A downhole recording device includes a housing centralizer, a housing, at least one radial connector connecting the housing to the housing centralizer, and an annular space between the housing centralizer and housing. The housing centralizer has a first end and a second end with a longitudinal opening through the housing centralizer from the first end to the second end. The housing is positioned radially within the longitudinal opening. The housing is configured to receive a downhole sensor. The annular space is located in the longitudinal opening of the housing centralizer and allows fluid communication from the first end of the housing centralizer to the second end of the housing centralizer.

Recording device for measuring downhole parameters

A latching dog includes a dog body, at least one engagement arm protrudes from an outer radial surface of the dog body in a transverse direction, and at least one retention fin protrudes from the dog body in a longitudinal direction. The at least one retention fin maintains the latching dog engaged with a housing surface to keep the latching dog at a desired axial and/or rotational position while milling the housing and latching dog.

Disclosed herein are methods and apparatus for releasing a releasable packer. The apparatus may include shear screws, a mechanism for isolating the shear screw from a shearing force. The mechanism for isolating the shear screw from a shearing force is selectively unlockable to expose the shear screw to the shearing force. The methods may include unlocking a mechanism protecting at least one shear screw, applying a shearing force to the at least one shear screw, and shearing the at least one shear screw.
