Disclosed herein are gypsum products with at least one high efficiency heat sink additive. The gypsum products, e.g., gypsum panels, are less susceptible to the damaging effects of extreme heat as the temperature rises due to the presence of the at least one additive.

Gypsum products with high efficiency heat sink additives

Described herein is a composite board and a method of producing a composite board, the board having increased fire endurance. The board comprises a sheet having a thickness greater than about 0.014 inches, and a thermal conductivity of about 0.1 w/(m.k.) or less. The composite board can be part of a wall assembly comprising two boards defining an interior cavity, the sheet facing the interior cavity.

Gypsum board

A non-woven material and method of formation thereof is provided to form a substantially flat or planar self supporting core of an inorganic base fiber and an organic binding fiber preferably using an air-laid forming head. In certain preferred embodiments, the organic base fiber has a fiber strength with a break load of about 10 grams or less and an elongation of about 20 percent or less. Preferably, the organic binding fiber has a binding component and a structural component within unitary fiber filaments. In one aspect, the structural component of the organic binding fiber has a composition effective to provide a strength thereof so that the non-woven material can be manually cut with minimal effort. In such form, the non-woven material is suitable to function as an acoustic ceiling tile.

Non-woven material and method of making such material

A water felted base mat for a suspended ceiling tile comprising on a weight basis about &#xbd; mineral wool, starch binder, limited to about &#x215b;, newsprint, limited to about &#x215b;, and about &#xbc; expanded glass beads.

Ceiling tile base mat

A panel includes about 0.1% to about 95% by weight of a ground renewable component. In an embodiment, the panel has at least one core comprising: from about 0.1% to about 95% by weight of the ground renewable component; from about 0.1% to about 95% by weight of one or more fibers; and from about 1% to about 30% by weight of one or more binders, all based on dry panel weight. In an embodiment, the ground renewable component has a particle size distribution whereby less than 5% of the particles are retained by a mesh screen with openings of about 0.312 inches and less than 5% of the particles pass through a mesh screen with openings of about 0.059 inches. A method for manufacturing such panels is also provided.

A cast type ceiling tile comprising a mixture containing 30 to 70% mineral wool, 10 to 40% expanded glass beads, 8 to 20% starch, 0 to 15% stucco, and 0 to 1% boric acid.

Cast ceiling tile

An acoustical building panel and method of manufacturing it are disclosed. Embodiments of the panel include a porous nonwoven scrim, a coating deposited on the scrim, a base mat, and an adhesive deposited on either the base mat or the scrim in a discrete form such as in droplets. Embodiments of the method of manufacture include steps of perforating the base mat, applying the adhesive to the base mat in the discrete form, laminating the scrim onto the base mat, and applying the coating to the scrim surface.

Porous nonwoven scrims in acoustical panels

A non-woven material, that can be formed into an acoustic ceiling tile, is provided. The material includes a substantially planar and self-supporting core of an inorganic base fiber and a synthetic thermal bonding fiber. The synthetic thermal bonding fiber preferably has an increased bonding surface area that improves adhesion and porosity to provide a base mat or core with a low density to provide sound absorption required by an acoustic ceiling tile.

Low density non-woven material useful with acoustic ceiling tile products

A panel includes about 0.1% to about 95% by weight of a renewable component. The panel has at least one of a CAC value of at least about 25, an NRC value of at least about 0.25 and an STC of at least about 25. A method for manufacturing such panels is also provided.
