A touch sensor device is provided. The touch sensor device includes a touch panel including a plurality of touch mark-keys indicating a position touched by a touch object, a plurality of first touch pads disposed at positions corresponding to the plurality of touch mark-keys of the touch panel and generating touch information of the touch object as a first electrical signal, a plurality of second touch pads disposed between the plurality of first touch pads and generating touch information of a conductive material on the touch object as a second electrical signal, and a touch sensing unit receiving the first electrical signal, outputting a plurality of sensing signals to allow an electronic device to perform predetermined operations corresponding to the touched touch mark-keys, and determining whether the touch of the touch object is a normal one using the first and second electrical signals.

Touch sensor device

Provided are an automatic impedance adjuster and a control method thereof. The automatic impedance adjuster includes a specific channel for checking an operating environment. When an operation signal of the specific channel is detected or operation signals of all the channels are detected, the automatic impedance adjustment operation is performed to prevent malfunction of the impedance adjustment operation. In addition, malfunction of a touch sensor due to variation of the operating environment can be prevented to improve operating reliability of the touch sensor.

Automatic impedance adjuster and control method thereof

A time-to-digital converting circuit and a pressure sensing device using the same are provided. The circuit includes: a delay time-varying unit generating a reference signal having a fixed delay time, and a sensing signal having a variable delay time in response to an impedance of an externally applied signal; and a delay time calculation and data generation unit calculating a delay time difference between the reference signal and the sensing signal, and generating digital data having a value corresponding to the calculated delay time difference. Accordingly, the digital data are generated using the delay time varied in response to the externally applied signal, so that the size of the time-to-digital circuit is significantly reduced. In addition, an affect due to external noises is minimized.

Provided are an optical navigation device and a method for compensating for an offset in the optical navigation device. The optical navigation device includes: an image input unit for emitting light, receiving light reflected from a working surface to generate an analog image signal, converting the analog image signal into a digital image signal, and outputting the digital image signal; a delta image generator for generating a cumulative average of digital image signals of respective pixels and subtracting the cumulative average from the digital image signals in the respective pixels to generate a delta image signal; and a motion value calculator for calculating a motion value using the delta image signal.

Optical navigation device and method for compensating for offset in optical navigation device

Provided is a touch sensor device including: at least one terminal connected to at least one contact pad; at least one common terminal; at least one light emitter connected between the common terminal and the terminal; and a touch sensor and light-emission controller unit connected to the common terminal and the terminal, and when a touch is sensed by the contact pad, controlling a corresponding light emitter to emit light.

A pointing device is provided. A sensor generates a motion detection signal by sensing motion. A calculator receives the motion detection signal, calculates a motion value based on the motion detection signal, calculates a conversion motion value base on an angle of the motion value, and outputs the conversion motion value. An interface outputs the motion conversion value inputted from the calculator. By limiting a motion angle, the pointing device can provide a positioning operation suitable for a motion intended by a user. The user can optionally use a motion control method in all directions according to need.

Pointing device and motion value calculating method thereof

Provided are a semiconductor device and a touch sensor device. The semiconductor device includes a die including a sense signal generator for sensing a touch signal to generate a sense signal; a conductive die-attach pad attached to the die to generate the touch signal; and a package for packaging the die and the die-attach pad, wherein the die-attach pad generates the touch signal depending on whether a touch object comes into contact with the package. The touch sensor device includes a plurality of semiconductor devices connected in a daisy-chain communication mode, wherein each of the semiconductor devices includes a die including a sense signal generator for sensing a touch signal to generate a sense signal; a conductive die-attach pad attached to the die to generate the touch signal; and a package for packaging the die and the die-attach pad, wherein the die-attach pad generates the touch signal depending on whether a touch object is brought into contact with the package. The semiconductor device enables the size and position of a touch pad to be known in advance during the fabrication of a die so that a sensitivity adjusting process can be simplified. Also, since the touch pad is included in a touch sensor, a system can be simply configured at low cost. Furthermore, the touch sensor device requires no additional sensitivity adjusting process and enables a plurality of touch sensor systems to be constructed at low cost by simply connecting a small number of electrical signals.

Provided is an optical navigation device and a method of operating the same. The optical navigation device includes: a light source for irradiating light; an image sensor for collecting incident light to obtain an image; and a controller for performing a calculation mode that obtains an image when the light source is ON to calculate a movement value and determines whether the optical navigation device is moved on the basis of the movement value, a sleeping mode that turns OFF the light source and stops an operation of the image sensor, and a detection mode that obtains the image when the light source is ON and an image when the light source is OFF and then compares characteristics of the images to determine whether the optical navigation device is separated from the work surface, wherein the controller performs the calculation mode when the optical navigation device is moved and not separated from the work surface, performs the sleeping mode when not moved and separated from the work surface, and periodically performs the detection mode. Therefore, it is possible to precisely detect whether the optical navigation device is spaced apart from a work surface to prevent malfunction and unnecessary power consumption of the optical navigation device due to separation from the work surface.

Optical navigation device and method of operating the same

An optical pointing device and a control method thereof are provided. The optical pointing device includes: an illumination unit for illuminating light on a working surface, and generating light in a predetermined code in response to a code signal; a control unit for detecting an image on the working surface to calculate a movement value, outputting movement information in response to an input signal inputted from the outside and the calculated movement value, intermittently outputting a code generation signal, and turning off the illumination unit when the optical pointing device is separated from the working surface in response to a determination signal; and a determination unit for outputting the code signal in response to the code generation signal, detecting light in the predetermined code to thus determine whether or not the optical pointing device is separated from the working surface, and outputting the determination signal depending on the determination result. Therefore, a glaring phenomenon generated when the optical pointing device is turned upside down can be prevented, and unnecessary power consumption can also be prevented.

An optical pointing device includes: an image obtaining part for continuously obtaining an image on a work surface as a sample image; a movement value calculator for comparing the sample image with the previously obtained image to calculate and output a movement value; a button selection signal generator for outputting a button selection signal corresponding to a specific reference pattern, when the sample image is the same as the specific reference pattern of a plurality of reference patterns; and a controller for providing the button selection signal and the movement value to a computing device when the button selection signal is transmitted from the button selection signal generator, and providing the movement value only to the computing device when the button selection signal is not transmitted from the button selection signal generator. Therefore, it is possible to recognize a plurality of specific patterns to generate button selection signals and replace mechanical selection buttons, thereby minimizing manufacturing cost and size of the optical pointing device. In addition, it is possible to readily change the number of button selection signals provided from the optical pointing device by changing the number of specific patterns.

An apparatus and method for searching and displaying data are provided. The method includes a scroller having a plurality of touch pads, a memory for storing the data, a controller for obtaining a first memory area of the memory in which data to be displayed are stored, and then sequentially displaying the data of the first memory area when the data to be displayed are selected, as well as obtaining a second memory area within the first memory area corresponding to a position of a touched touch pad and then sequentially displaying data of the second memory area when the touch pad is touched for more than a pre-determined time, and obtaining a scroll direction based on the position of the touched touch pad and then scrolling the screen in the obtained scroll direction when the touch pad is touched for less than the pre-determined time, and a user interface for enabling a user can to select the data to be displayed or request a memory mapping operation, and displaying or scrolling the data on a screen under control of the controller.

The wireless communication method of the human interface includes the steps of: setting up an occupancy channel of the host digital terminal and the wireless input unit by communicating data for setting up the occupancy channel through the emergency channel; transmitting, at the wireless input unit, operation data through the occupancy channel, and receiving, at the host digital terminal, the operation data; and when the operation data is not generated until a predetermined time lapses, enabling the wireless input unit and the host digital terminal to operate in an operation standby state, and confirming whether there is interference on the occupancy channel. Accordingly, efficiency of a frequency band is increased, and cost and size of the product can be reduced. Further, when interference on the occupancy channel is detected, a new occupancy channel can be set up so that reliability and efficiency of the wireless communication can be increased.

Provided are an apparatus using a battery and a method of detecting a time to change/recharge the battery in the apparatus. The apparatus includes: a battery for applying a battery voltage; a function unit for receiving the battery voltage to perform an intrinsic operation and cutting off the battery voltage; a voltage divider for dividing the battery voltage to generate a divided voltage; an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) for receiving the battery voltage to convert the divided voltage into a digital voltage signal in response to a measurement control signal before and after a low-power mode is finished; and a controller for receiving the battery voltage to generate a low-power signal for entering the low-power mode, enabling the measurement control signal in response to the low-power signal before and after the low-power mode is finished, and informing a user of a time to change/recharge the battery by detecting the remaining power of the battery using the digital voltage signals generated before and after the low-power mode is finished.

Wireless optical pointing apparatus using battery and method of detecting time for change/recharge of battery thereof

An optical position tracking device and a method of testing the same are provided. The device includes: a controller for generating at least one test operation signal in response to a command signal; a test signal generator for generating a test signal during a test operation in response to the test operation signal; a motion calculator for receiving the test signal during the test operation and performing operations in response to the test operation signal to output an output signal; and an output signal analyzer for determining whether the output signal is correct during the test operation in response to the test operation signal to output a result signal. Thus, the complexity of the method of testing the optical position tracking device can be markedly reduced and it is unnecessary to employ a high-performance test apparatus. Further, the time taken to test the optical position tracking device can be shortened by simplifying and optimizing test circumstances, and a test can be performed by connecting the optical position tracking device with a typical system, such as a personal computer (PC), instead of exclusively employing a test apparatus.
