Systems, devices, and methods are provided for drug delivery and vascular remodeling, particularly the use of a high-energy electromagnetic field to impart kinetic energy to the drug molecule or to tough calcific lesions during balloon angioplasty. The receiver is capable of absorbing electromagnetic energy and configured to oscillate upon absorbing electromagnetic energy, wherein oscillation of the receiver creates a physical motion that imparts kinetic energy to one or more drug molecules and enables or enhances penetration and/or diffusion of the drug molecules into a selected tissue. Embodiments are also provided in which a balloon catheter, with or without a drug-coated stent, comprises the receiver.

The Umbilical Forming Device comprises a flexible body configured for use during healing of the umbilical wound. In some aspects, the flexible body is free of any holes. In other aspects, the flexible body comprises a wall, wherein the wall defines a hollow cavity and comprises one or more holes configured to facilitate drainage of secretions and/or ventilation of the umbilical wound, including wherein the flexible body further comprises proximal and/or distal openings configured to facilitate observation of the healing of the umbilical wound, removal of any secretions from the umbilical wound, and/or administration of one or more therapeutic agents to the umbilical wound. Methods of use and kits comprising the devices disclosed herein are also provided.

An occlusion device has spaced struts connected by end members and is covered with a sheath. An actuator runs through the frame defined by the struts and end members. The struts are delivered in tension and allowed to relax to flex outwardly for fixation. The struts can also be placed in a relaxed condition and then flexed with relative movement of the end members when coming closer together. The set position of the struts is locked. The actuator can be at least in part removed after the struts flex. An anchor can be placed proximally to the frame and it contains spaced elongated members connected into a tubular shape with circumferential bands that have bends for flexibility to collapse for insertion and expand when placed in the lumen.

An endoluminal occluding device consisting of a conical-shaped structure which is attached to a threaded central tubular element is capable of occluding a body lumen immediately after placement. When deployed within a body lumen, such as a fallopian tube, the conical-shaped structure extends radially outward from the central tubular element, thereby acutely occluding the body lumen, and, in the case of the fallopian tubes, preventing conception. As the acute occlusion device is being implanted into a body lumen, it is rotated, as the screw threads, which embed into the body lumen wall, advance the device within the body lumen to the desired located. Once implanted and deployed into a body lumen, the acute occlusion device provides immediate occlusion of the body lumen. A proximal anchor prevents the endoluminal device from migrating into the body lumen once it has been deployed.

This invention relates to a temporary indwelling prostatic stent which provides a passage for urine through the prostatic urethra and which enable the patient to void the bladder at will. This temporary prostatic stent consists of a coiled or braided made out of metal or plastic section which spans the prostatic urethra, wings composed of memory alloy allowing an anchoring means in the bladder, and an anchoring means below the external sphincter, and a retrieval string to facilitate removal of the stent from the patient.

A support device suitable for urethral support is adjustable for length post operatively. An elongated body has at least one bellows and a line going through a passage in the elongated body. The elongated body is supported in the patient and the line is adjustable by balloon inflation or rotation of a drum. The amount of support can be changed postoperatively using an instrument inserted through the skin with a local anesthetic or even from outside the skin with no surgical intervention. The bellows changes length when adjustments are made.

A flexible stent is disclosed which reduced openings between rings by two alternative techniques. In the first instance, adjacent sinusoidally bending rings are nested to compact them closer together to reduce the opening sizes therebetween. In another embodiment, adjacent sinusoidal rings overlap each other to achieve the same effect. The assembly can be covered with a graft as a support therefor.

A stent is disclosed which comprises generally of ring having, in the preferred embodiment, crossties that have flexibility by having at least one bend. The rings themselves have predetermined stress-relieving points to predispose, by stress relief, particular segments of each ring to bend upon application of an expansion force such as by a balloon or by other means. In the preferred embodiment, the individual rings have notches, reducing the cross-sectional areas at particular locations adjacent reversing bends such that upon radial expansion, bending occurs at these reduced cross-sectional areas to prevent stress from accumulating at the reversing bends.

Flexible stent

A flexible stent is provided that has features to minimize recoil and facilitate anchoring of the stent in a vascular passage. The design features sharp angulated bends. Other features include a rounded cross-section in the wire or stent components. Another feature is the bending of the angulated bends in a transverse plane to provide additional rigidity and an anchoring mechanism. Ties are provided in alignment or in staggered fashion, either semi-rigid or flexible, to allow the structure, which can be made of joined rings or a helical arrangement, to be more flexible to accommodate bends in the vascular system. The ties are also disclosed with a locking system involving bending the wire as it is formed into a helix in combination with crossties with loops which lock the stent in an expanded position.

Vascular stent

A balloon is disclosed that has two differing rates of distensibility. It can be used to perform angioplasty by taking advantage of its high strength and relatively low distensibility up to a predetermined range of pressure and still be used to set a stent by operating a pressure range where there is a higher distensibility. the balloon can be of a single material that is oriented less than fully or a blend of materials similarly oriented. In another embodiment, strands of a more crystalline material run longitudinally through a matrix of a less crystalline material, with the resulting balloon, when not fully biaxially oriented, exhibiting high burst strength and two different rates of distension at different applied inflation pressures.
