A method includes placing, via a bailer, a slurry into a wellbore to deposit a slurry downhole. The slurry includes a solids mixture and a fluid. The method also includes terminating placement of the slurry for a period of time. A viscous pill inhibits settling of the solids mixture, and the slurry displaces the viscous pill in contact with a surface of a screen.

High solids content fluid techniques

Systems and methods deliver degradable polyester during gravel packing and may include a gravel pack system disposed within a wellbore formed in a subterranean formation. The systems and methods may include drilling at least one interval of a wellbore with a non-aqueous wellbore fluid, wherein the non-aqueous wellbore fluid produces a filter cake in the at least one interval of the wellbore and gravel packing an interval of a wellbore traversing a subterranean formation with a gravel pack that comprises non-aqueous gravel pack carrier fluid and proppants. The systems and methods may also include hydrolyzing degradable polyester that is associated with the gravel pack and degrading at least one portion of the filter cake.

Systems and methods for delivering degradable polyester during gravel packing

A method of completing a well in a single trip includes drilling a wellbore with drilling mud, miming a single trip completion string including an upper completion, a lower completion, and a packer between the upper and lower completions into the wellbore, displacing the wellbore to solids free fluid by opening or closing a circulation sliding sleeve disposed below the packer in the lower completion, opening the circulation sliding sleeve and spotting gravel slurry in a casing annulus, closing the circulation sliding sleeve and pumping the gravel slurry down the casing annulus into an open hole annulus while taking returns through a base pipe of a sand control assembly and production tubing of the single trip completion string, opening the circulation sliding sleeve, displacing the cased hole section to completion fluid, closing the circulation sliding sleeve, and setting the packer.

Single trip completion system with open hole gravel pack go/stop pumping

A technique facilitates stimulation of multiple well zones along a multilayered reservoir. The technique utilizes equipment constructed to enable performance of the stimulation job along the multiple well zones, i.e. two or more well zones, prior to gravel packing the multiple well zones. The equipment enables performance of the stimulation job during a single trip downhole. Subsequent actuation of the equipment further enables a multizone gravel packaging operation during the same trip downhole.

System and method for stimulating multiple zones

A sand screen apparatus for use in a downhole operation for hydrocarbon recovery includes a non-metallic material and a mechanical retainer. The non-metallic material has a compressed state and an expanded state, and includes a base polymer, and one or a plurality of smart fillers dispersed with a polymeric matrix of the non-metallic material. The mechanical retainer compresses the non-metallic material in the compressed state. The one or the plurality of smart fillers react with the base polymer in the expanded state after exposure to a wellbore condition.

A method of gravel packing an open hole penetrating a subterranean information includes installing at least one sand control screen disposed about a tubular member into the open hole, circulating a slurry including an expandable gravel and a carrier fluid, depositing the slurry in the wellbore annulus surrounding the at least one sand control screen in an alpha wave beginning at a heel of the wellbore annulus, detecting at least one of: arrival of the alpha wave at a toe of the wellbore annulus and start of a beta wave at the toe of the wellbore annulus, stopping circulation of the slurry, and triggering the expandable gravel to expand to pack the wellbore annulus surrounding the at least one sand control screen above the alpha wave.

Method of gravel packing open holes

Methods include drilling at least one interval of a wellbore with a water-based wellbore fluid producing a filtercake in the at least one interval of the wellbore. The methods also include gravel packing an interval of a wellbore traversing a subterranean formation with a gravel pack that comprises polyhydroxycarboxylic acid, and hydrolyzing the polyhydroxycarboxylic acid to degrade at least a portion of the filtercake.

A method for completing a wellbore extending through a subterranean formation may include installing a sandface completion assembly in the wellbore; pumping a solids free fluid comprising chemical precursors into an annulus formed between the subterranean formation and the sandface completion assembly; triggering and/or controlling chemical reaction between the chemical precursors to form a plurality of solid particles in the annulus.

Methods of delivering a low density solvent into a wellbore include combining an oleaginous solvent and a nonoleaginous fluid to form an emulsion, and injecting the emulsion into a wellbore. Other uses of low density solvent systems may include dissolving waxes and wax-containing residues in a wellbore, on downhole tools, from sand screens, or use in general cleanup operations in and outside of the wellbore.

A method for completing a wellbore may include introducing an oil-containing wellbore fluid into a wellbore having water-based filtercake on walls thereof, contacting the oil-containing wellbore fluid with an oil-swellable element in the wellbore; and allowing swelling of the oil-swellable element, where the oil-containing wellbore fluid is substantially free of unassociated surfactants, emulsifiers, or dispersants and may include an oleaginous fluid and a weighting agent.

A technique includes completing a well, including installing a tubing string that includes a screen in the well and installing a fiber-based material outside of the screen. The technique further includes using the well as an injection well, including communicating a fluid into the tubing string to cause an injection flow to be communicated in a fluid flow path from an interior of the tubing string, through the screen and into a formation.

A composition and method are disclosed. The composition includes a carrier fluid and a solids mixture combined to form a slurry, wherein the solids mixture comprises a plurality of volume-averaged particle size distribution (PSD) modes, wherein a first PSD mode comprises solids having a volume-average median size at least three times larger than the volume-average median size of a second PSD mode such that a packed volume fraction of the solids mixture exceeds 0.75, and wherein the solids mixture comprises a degradable material and includes a reactive solid. The method includes circulating the slurry through a wellbore to form a pack in a fracture and/or a screen-wellbore annulus; degrading the degradable material to increase porosity and permeability of the pack; and producing a reservoir fluid through the permeable pack.

A method includes providing a slurry comprising a carrier fluid and a solids mixture, and injecting said slurry in a wellbore wherein the solids mixture comprises at least two volume-averaged particle size distribution (PSD) modes, wherein a first PSD mode comprises solids having a volume-average median size at least three times larger than the volume-average median size of a second PSD mode such that a packed volume fraction (PVF) of the solids mixture exceeds 0.75.

High solids content slurry systems and methods

A slurry and method are disclosed for low damage gravel packing. The slurry comprises a solids mixture comprising a plurality of volume-averaged particle size distribution (PSD) modes such that a packed volume fraction (PVF) exceeds 0.75; a carrier fluid in an amount to provide a solids volume fraction (SVF) less than the PVF of the solids mixture; and a stability additive to inhibit settling of the solids mixture. The method comprises circulating the slurry into a wellbore to deposit the slurry downhole; terminating the slurry circulation for a period of time, wherein the stability additive inhibits settling of the solids mixture; and thereafter circulating the deposited slurry in contact with a surface of a screen. Stability additives disclosed include colloidal particles, hydratable polymer particles, and particles having an aspect ratio above 6.
