Systems and methods are disclosed herein that relate to obtaining and using Packet Detection Rules (PDRs) in a cellular communications system operating as virtual Ethernet bridge based on Ethernet forwarding information. In one embodiment, a method performed by a User Plane Function (UPF) for enabling a cellular communications system to operate as a virtual Ethernet bridge comprises obtaining a PDR for a Protocol Data Unit (PDU) session in a downlink direction in the cellular communications system. The PDU session is associated with an egress Ethernet port of the virtual Ethernet bridge for the downlink direction, the PDR maps Ethernet packets received at the UPF on an ingress Ethernet port(s) of the virtual Ethernet bridge to the PDU session associated with the egress Ethernet port of the virtual Ethernet bridge, and the PDR is derived from an Ethernet packet forwarding rule of the virtual Ethernet bridge.

Techniques for enhancing performance in Industrial Internet-of-Things (IIoT) scenarios, including techniques for time-sensitive networking (TSN) and 5G wireless network integration. An example method, performed by a wireless device, comprises receiving system information (SI) from a radio base station (RBS) of a radio access network (RAN), the SI being indicative of support for TSN through the RBS, and establishing at least one TSN stream with an external data network, through the RBS. The example method further includes receiving a first timing signal from the wireless communications network, via the RBS, receiving a second timing signal from the external TSN data network to which the wireless device is connected, comparing the first timing signal to the second timing signal to determine an offset, and transmitting the offset to the wireless communications network.

A boost is provided in an overloaded system by distinguishing nodes with a 'bad' traffic history from nodes with a “good” traffic history. In so doing, a core network node is able to apply additional resources to the node(s) having a “good” history in the form of a boost factor. Based on a system capacity and a working point, e.g., a critical number of active nodes with a “bad” traffic history, the core network node may determine a throughput history limit belonging to the “bad” traffic history. Responsive to expected requirements for a newly active node (i.e., a node having a “good” traffic history), the core network node determines a boost factor for the newly active node, applies the boost factor to the average resources allocated to the nodes with the “bad” traffic history to determine boosted resources, and allocates the boosted resources to the newly active node.

Systems and methods are disclosed herein that enable Time Sensitive Networking (TSN) network or Deterministic Networking (DetNet) network replication function fallback. In some embodiments, a method comprises, at a primary replication function, obtaining a packet in a particular stream, obtaining a sequence number for the packet, generating M copies of the packet each comprising the sequence number, transmitting the M copies, and providing, to a redundancy controller, the sequence number or a next sequence number of a next packet to be transmitted for the particular stream. In some embodiments, a UE for a cellular communications system, where the cellular communications system operates as multiple Ethernet network virtual bridges, comprises one or more transmitters, one or more receivers, and processing circuitry associated with the one or more transmitters and one or more receivers. The processing circuitry is configured to cause the UE to establish a first Protocol Data Unit (PDU) session to an Ethernet network via a first User Plane Function (UPF), wherein PDU sessions that connect to the Ethernet network via the first UPF are grouped into a first Ethernet network virtual bridge. In this manner, shared media in the Ethernet network can be avoided.

Methods and systems for coordinated change of Protocol Data Unit (PDU) Session Anchors (PSAs) are provided. According to one embodiment, a method for coordinated change of PSAs comprises, at a node for maintaining PSA change status for PDU sessions, receiving a request for a PSA change or handover for a first PDU session having a first PSA, where the first PDU session and a second PDU session having a second PSA different from the first PSA are redundant PDU sessions with each other.
