A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, identifying a request from a femtocell located at a customer premises to receive a requested service of subscribed services related to a subscriber account that identifies an availability of the requested service to the femtocell. Authentication information is determined, provided by way of the femtocell and a message is provided to a server including the authentication information and an identifier of a customer premises device located at the customer premises. An authentication process to authenticate the femtocell is initiated responsive to the request, wherein the server identifies the subscriber account based on the identifier of the customer premises device, and wherein the femtocell is authenticated based on information associated with the subscriber account. Apparatus and method of automatically provisioning a femtocell

Security systems are warned of earthquakes, tornadoes, and other natural disasters. When an early warning system detects a natural disaster, the early warning system alerts a central server. The early warning system alerts the central server to the natural event and its associated geographic area. The central server may then consult a database and determine the security systems operating in a vicinity of the geographic area experiencing the natural event. The central server may thus warn the security systems of the natural event. The security systems may then implement pre-programmed procedures to protect life and property during earthquakes, tornadoes, and other natural disasters.

Methods, systems, and products for security services

A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, establishing communications with a femtocell located at premises with a gateway device. A request is received from the femtocell to authenticate the femtocell, wherein authentication allows the femtocell to receive subscribed services. Authentication information is received from the femtocell and an authentication process is initiated to authenticate the femtocell based on the request. An identification of the gateway device and the authentication information are provided to a remote server, wherein the providing of the identification and the authentication information is responsive to the establishing of the communications with the femtocell. The remote server identifies a subscriber account based on the identification of the gateway to authenticate the femtocell based on information obtained from the subscriber account. A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a device having a processor operable to receive an identifier from a wireless device of a user, to determine information of a femtocell, and to provide the femtocell information to the wireless device. The processor is also operable to determine location data of the femtocell and to identify according to the gateway identifier a subscriber account to verify availability of service for the femtocell. The femtocell is authenticated according to the location data and the femtocell identifier. Other embodiments are disclosed.

A computer-implemented method includes receiving, at a monitoring center of a media distribution network, from a set top box device associated with a customer account, first error data indicating occurrence of a first error at the set top box device at a first time. The set top box device is at least partially functional after occurrence of the first error. The computer-implemented method includes receiving, at the monitoring center, second error data indicating occurrence of a second error at the set top box device at a second time. The set top box device is at least partially functional after occurrence of the second error. The computer-implemented method includes determining an elapsed time between the first time and the second time. The computer-implemented method includes automatically generating a trouble ticket indicating failure of the set top box device when the elapsed time satisfies a first threshold.

System and method to troubleshoot a set top box device

A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a femtocell having a controller operable to establish communications with a gateway and transmit authentication information to the gateway. The gateway transmits the authentication information and a gateway identifier to a remote server to authenticate the femtocell. The controller is also operable to detect enablement of services responsive to the remote server identifying a subscriber account according to the gateway identifier, and the remote server authenticating the femtocell by comparing the authentication information to information retrieved from the subscriber account. Other embodiments are disclosed.
