The present invention provides a process for the hydrogenation of the levulinic acid to &#x3b3;-valerolactone in a single step with a single Pt supported on hydrotalcite catalyst. The process provides conversion of &#x3b3;-valerolactone over Pt supported hydrotalcite catalyst at room temperature (25&#xb0; C.). The process provides a levulinic acid conversion of 34-100% with 20-50 bar hydrogen pressure to give &#x3b3;-valerolactone selectivity up to 99%.

Process for the production of &#x3b3;-valerolactone

The present invention relates to Nano Ni&#x2014;CeOcatalyst and its preparation thereof useful for syngas production. Particularly, the present invention relates to a process for the activation of methane at low temperature for the production of synthesis gas (mixture of CO and H) using nanosize Ni&#x2014;Ce oxide catalyst. More particularly, the present invention relates to a process for the partial oxidation of methane to synthesis gas between temperature range of 450&#xb0; C. to 800&#xb0; C. at atmospheric pressure over Ni&#x2014;CeOsolid catalyst. The process provides a methane conversion of 20-98% with Hto CO molar ratio of 1.6 to 2 without deactivation till 100 h.

Nano Ni&#x2014;CeO2 catalyst for syngas production and its preparation thereof

The present invention provides a process and catalyst for the conversion of phenol and its derivatives to cyclohexane and cyclohexanol. The process provides a direct single step for selective hydrogenation of phenol and its derivatives over Pt&#x2014;Ce oxide catalyst. The process provides a phenol conversion of 50 to 100% and selectivity of hydrogenated product up to 98%.
