An electrified vehicle may include an electric motor coupled to a battery to propel and brake the vehicle, a pedal generating a pedal position signal including a released position signal, friction brakes configured to provide a stopping force to vehicle wheels, and a controller programmed to control the motor and the brakes in response to the pedal being released to decelerate the vehicle to a stop, and to control the motor and an engine (in hybrid vehicles) to inhibit propulsive torque to the wheels after stopping due to the pedal released position until receiving driver input indicative of a request for moving the vehicle, such as depressing the brake or accelerator pedal, or activating an automated vehicle maneuver, such as a parking maneuver, cruise control, or stop-and-go control. Inhibiting torque may include inhibiting creep torque and/or operating the electric machine to charge the battery when the engine is running.

Electrified vehicle one pedal drive transition control

Methods and systems are provided for improving torque control of a vehicle that includes simulated shifting of a step gear ratio transmission. In one example, a propulsive effort request is gradually incrementally increased or decreased to provide a smooth torque transition, thereby providing a smoother vehicle speed change and improve vehicle drivability.

Powertrain torque control method and system

A vehicle includes a multi-core processor having first, second, and cores and having first and second analog-to-digital converters (ADC) associated with the first and second cores, respectively. The first and second ADC are configured to convert analog phase currents to first and second digital phase current values, respectively. The multi-core processor is configured to generate first and second rotor-angle data from digital signals representing a position of the electric machine. The processor is programmed to, via the first core, estimate a first output torque of the electric machine based on the first rotor-angle data and the first digital phase current values, via the second core, estimate a second output torque based on the second rotor-angle data and the second digital phase current values, and, via the third core, command de-activation of the electric machine in response to a difference between the first and second output torques exceeding a threshold.

Systems and methods to determine and validate torque of an electric machine

Methods and systems are provided for propelling a hybrid electric vehicle under circumstances where a torque degradation event associated with an electric machine that is used for propulsive effort is indicated. In one example, a method may include propelling the vehicle at least in part via a first electric machine that provides torque to front wheels and/or via a second electric machine that provides torque to rear wheels of the vehicle, and continuing to propel the vehicle via adjusting operation of both the first and the second electric machine in response to an indication of a torque degradation event associated with one of the electric machines. In this way, a vehicle shutdown event may be avoided.

Systems and methods for managing electric motor torques in a hybrid electric vehicle

Methods and systems for monitoring and determining a propulsion request are described. In one example, the propulsion request is evaluated according to two separate plausibility checks. The plausibility checks may include comparing a monitor propulsion request against the propulsion request and comparing the monitor propulsion request against a wheel torque.

Method and system for monitoring a propulsive effort request

A vehicle includes an accelerator pedal, a brake pedal, an electric machine, friction brakes, and a controller. The electric machine is configured to propel the vehicle and to brake the vehicle during regenerative braking. The friction brakes are configured to brake the vehicle. The controller is programmed to, responsive to an operator selection of a one-pedal drive mode, decrease vehicle speed via regenerative braking in response to releasing the accelerator pedal. The controller is further programmed to transition the vehicle to an inhibit state in which the friction brakes are applied to prevent vehicle creep in response to receiving an automated signal to disable the one-pedal drive mode and vehicle speed becoming zero while the one-pedal drive mode is selected.

A vehicle includes a first controller having a processor and a monitoring unit. The monitoring unit generates a question and transfers the question to the processor via a first bus. The processor generates an answer corresponding to the question and transfers the answer to the monitoring unit via the first bus. The processor transfers the question and the answer via a second bus. The vehicle includes a second controller coupled to the second bus and programmed to transition to a reduced performance mode responsive to the answer being different than an expected answer to the question.

A vehicle includes a controller having a microcontroller and a monitoring processor. The controller includes a bus transceiver for communicating on an external communication bus. The controller is configured such that each of the microcontroller and the monitoring processor can output a transmit data signal to the bus transceiver. The source of the transmit data signal is selected as the output of the monitoring processor responsive to evaluating the microcontroller as being inoperative.

Hybrid control module status communication system and method

A vehicle includes a controller configured to deactivate an inverter driving the rotor. The deactivation being responsive to respective speeds for a rotor derived from respective samples from each of a monitoring core and a current control core over a same temporal window being different by a threshold amount. The cores each generate a different number of the samples due to having different chronometric periods and the temporal window being greater than the chronometric periods.

Torque error detection and torque estimation system

A system for validating velocities of components in a vehicle uses sensor measurements and mathematical relationships between the vehicle components to validate the velocities. A controller or controllers receive speed or velocity inputs and mathematically combine the velocities of more than one of the vehicle components. The velocities of at least one of the vehicle components is validated when the mathematical combination meets at least one predetermined criterion. The validated velocity or velocities are then communicated to at least one of the vehicle components.

System for validating velocities of components in a vehicle

A method for validating engine and motor velocities in a vehicle having an engine and two motors is provided. The method validates the velocities without using two speed sensors for each device. The velocities of the engine and the two motors are first determined, and then mathematically combined using known velocity relationships based on the vehicle architecture. The mathematical combination of the velocities is then compared to a first pre-determined speed range, and if the mathematical combination is within the predetermined range, the velocities of the engine and the two motors are validated. If the validation of the engine and the two motors fails, additional equations can be used utilizing additional inputs, including the vehicle speed as measured at the vehicle wheels. In this way, the velocities of one or more of the torque generating devices in the vehicle may be validated.
