A method and system generate steam for SAGD operation wherein steam generator blowdown water is acidified, cooled and clarified before reuse. Acid Clarification Treatment, or 'ACT', mitigates organic fouling in Once-Through Stream Generators. Lab tests quantitatively and qualitatively show that ACT reduces Total organic carbon (TOC) and 'bad actors' TOC, respectively, in blowdown streams.

Treatment of OTSG blowdown

A method for modeling reservoir souring using object-oriented numerical solutions separate from reservoir topography is described. Specifically, flow physics are separated into one or more objects, along with one or more HS generation mechanisms, for modeling on time and spatial scales separate from field scale modeling.

Reservoir souring forecasting

Methods and systems relate to generating steam from water that contains dissolved organic compounds. The methods mix a polymerization inhibitor with the water prior to feeding the water into a steam generator. The polymerization inhibitor limits coupling of the dissolved organics under boiler conditions to mitigate fouling issues within the boiler.
