The present invention relates to a molecularly imprinted polymer for binding glycans, wherein the molecularly imprinted polymer is obtainable by providing a saccharide template such as a glycan; providing at least two functional monomers capable of cooperatively; interacting with the template; providing a crosslinking monomer; polymerizing the monomers optionally dissolved in a solvent, in presence of the saccharide template; and removing the template from the formed polymer. The invention is also related to a method for their production and use of the molecularly imprinted polymer.

Molecularly imprinted polymers

The invention relates to a polymer obtainable by radical co-polymerization of a first monomer of general formula (I) or (II) or a mixture thereof: wherein A, A', B, B&#x2032; X, Y, Y&#x2032; and n are as defined herein; with a second, cross-linking monomer and optionally with one or more further co-monomers; wherein the molar ratio of the first monomer to other monomers is less than or equal to 1:5. The polymers selectively bind to phosphate ester compounds and can be used as a solid phase in a method for isolating compounds comprising a phosphate ester group from a mixture comprising one or more phosphate monoesters and/or phosphate diesters and/or other compounds such as lipids.

A class of molecularly imprinted polymers that specifically recognizes and binds to nitrosamines members of which class are useful, for example, in analysis and separation of nitrosamines from biological fluids. Such molecularly imprinted polymers are also useful in methods of treating and manufacturing tobacco products and materials.

Moleculary imprinted polymers for extraction of components from foodstruffs

A porous, molecularly imprinted polymer and a process for its preparation are described. The porous, molecularly imprinted polymer is characterized in that it is obtainable by providing a porous silica; attaching a molecular template to the surface of the porous silica; filling the pores of the porous silica with a polymer, removing the silica and the molecular template, thereby leaving a porous, molecularly imprinted polymer. The process is characterized by the above defined process steps. Also described are a porous polymer vesicle and its preparation with the same features as defined for the porous, molecularly imprinted polymer and its preparation, except for the lack of the molecular template and thus the lack of the molecular imprint in the porous polymer.

The present invention refers to new classes of polymerisable monomers, to molecularly imprinted polymers obtainable by polymerisation of at least one of the monomers and a crosslinking monomer in the presence of a template molecule.
