Disclosed is a cobalt-base alloy that has a valuable combination of both corrosion- and wear-resistant properties. The alloy nominally contains, in percent by weight, 25.5 chromium, 8.5 nickel, 3.0 iron, 5 molybdenum, 2 tungsten, 0.40 silicon, 0.75 manganese, 0.06 carbon, 0.08 nitrogen and the balance cobalt plus normal impurities normally found in alloys of this class. The alloy may also contain copper and certain 'carbide formers' (i.e., columbium, tantalum, titanium, vanadium and the like) to tie up excess carbon and/or nitrogen that may be present.

Corrosion-and-wear-resistant cobalt-base alloy

Disclosed is a nickel-base alloy eminently suited for use as a welding filler material. The alloy contains over 40% molybdenum with an effective content of silicon to provide a valuable combination of engineering properties which includes the combination of high strength, excellent corrosion resistance and welding characteristics. Commercial production of the alloy may be in many forms, for example, castings, powder metallurgy articles, wrought products and the like. A typical alloy of this invention contains about 42% molybdenum, 0.25% silicon and the balance nickel plus modifying elements and impurities.

High molybdenum nickel-base alloy

A nickel-base alloy containing principally chromium molybdenum and tungsten is disclosed. The alloy is especially resistant to corrosion in a variety of corrosive media including oxidizing acids and reducing acids; furthermore, the alloy is not subject to localized corrosive attack, known as the 'pitting' test. The alloy nominally contains 22% chromium, 13% molybdenum, 3% tungsten, 3% iron and the balance nickel plus small amounts of adventitious elements and impurities. Molybdenum and tungsten must be present in a ratio of about 4 to 1 respectively for optimum benefits of the invention.

Corrosion-resistance nickel alloy

Disclosed is an alloy eminently suited for use as a tubular product in deep, sour gas operations. The alloy has an optimum combination of corrosion resistance, high strength in the cold worked condition and resistance to sulfide stress cracking and stress corrosion cracking. A typical alloy contains, in weight percent, 0.03 carbon, 22 chromium, 36 iron, 3 molybdenum, 1 manganese, 36 nickel, 0.60 silicon, 0.15 nitrogen, up to 3 tungsten and incidental impurities including copper, cobalt, columbium, tantalum and titanium.

Corrosion resistant nickel-iron alloy

Disclosed is a nickel-base alloy which provides excellent corrosion resistance to a variety of severe environments, especially hot phosphoric acid. The alloy preferably contains, in weight percent: about 30 chromium, about 4 molybdenum, about 2 tungsten, about 1 Cb/Ta, about 1.5 copper, about 14 iron and the balance nickel plus the impurities and modifying elements usually found in alloy of this class. The alloy is eminently suited for use as articles in chemical processing apparatus in the manufacture and/or containment of phosphoric acid and sulfuric acid.

High chromium nickel base alloys

A nickel-base alloy that is corrosion resistant to hydrogen, sulfide and chloride stress cracking is provided consisting essentially of about 17 to 23% chromium, 8 to 10% molybdenum, 15 to 22% iron, limited contents of cobalt, silicon and manganese, 0.030% maximum carbon and the balance nickel and incidental impurities. The alloy is eminently suited for use as components in so-called 'sour-gas' well operations.

Corrosion-resistant nickel alloy

An alloy and a metal product characterized by resistance to localized corrosion, hydrogen sulfide stress cracking (hydrogen embrittlement) and stress corrosion cracking at temperatures up to about 200.degree. C. consisting essentially of nickel 40-65%, cobalt 0-5%, chromium 10-20%, molybdenum 12-18%, iron 10-20%, tungsten up to 5%, carbon 0-0.1% manganese up to 3%, vanadium up to 1% and silicon up to 0.2%. The alloy resistance is maintained when it is cold worked over 20%.
