The systems and methods described herein provide a wearable sweat sensing device. The device includes a sweat patch component including a sweat biochemical sensor patch having a substrate defining a hole, at least one biochemical sensor, and a capture wick including a tip that extends through the hole, the capture wick configured to channel sweat across the at least one biochemical sensor. The sweat patch component further includes a wick downstream from the capture wick and separated from the capture wick by a gap, and electronic circuitry disposed against at least one face of the wick, wherein an electronic response of the electronic circuitry changes as sweat flows through the wick. The wearable sweat sensing device further includes an electronics module component configured to facilitate assessing hydration of a wearer based on signals from the at least one biochemical sensor and the electronic circuitry.

A system for monitoring medical conditions includes a conformable medical monitoring device that includes a first substrate layer, which includes an electronics module, many signal traces, and at least one electrode, such that one or more of the many signal traces electrically couple the at least one electrode to the electronics module. The conformable medical monitoring device includes a second substrate layer positioned over the electronics module, the first substrate layer, or any combination thereof to insulate the electronics module, the first substrate layer, or any combination thereof. The conformable medical monitoring device also includes a third substrate layer positioned over the second substrate layer, such that the third substrate layer reduces electromagnetic interference caused by a voltage pulse and includes an adjustable system coupled to the first substrate layer and that changes a position of the at least one electrode relative to the electronics module.

A method of making nanoscale ordered composites of covalent ceramics through block copolymer-assisted assembly. At least one polymeric precursor is mixed with a block copolymer, and self-assembly of the mixture proceeds through an annealing process. The nano-calorimeter device including a thin film membrane having a first surface and a second surface. The nano-calorimeter device also including a frame structure disposed adjacent to and in thermal contact with the first surface of the thin film membrane, the frame structure defining a plurality of hollow cells adjacent to and in thermal contact with the first surface of the thin film membrane. The nano-calorimeter device further including one or more micro-heating elements disposed adjacent to and in thermal contact with the second surface of the thin film membrane, the location of the one or more micro-heating elements disposed adjacent to the second surface of the thin film membrane substantially corresponding to the location of the plurality of hollow cells defined adjacent to the first surface of the thin film membrane.
