The synthesis of metal nanoparticles using a modified mPEG (methoxypolyethylene glycol) polymer includes the steps of: preparing a methanolic solution of a polymer; providing an aqueous solution including a metal salt; and combining the methanolic solution of the polymer with the aqueous metal salt solution to produce the metal nanoparticles, where the metal salt is AgNO, CuCl, NiCl, CoCl, Pd(Ac), or HAuCland wherein the metal nanoparticles are silver, copper, cobalt, palladium, nicker or gold nanoparticles having a size between 1 nm and 100 nm in diameter.

Synthesis of metal nanoparticles using modified MPEG polymer

The functionalized silica for the synthesis of metal nanoparticles includes a silica surface functionalized by a hydrazino-triazine derivative. A method of preparing the functionalized silica includes the steps of combining silica gel and a triazine derivative in a first organic solvent to form a mixture; heating the mixture for about two hours; isolating a white solid by filtration; washing the solid with the first organic solvent; suspending the white solid in a second organic solvent to form a suspension; adding hydrazine hydrate to the suspension while stirring; heating the suspension for about 3 hours to form the silica surface functionalized by a hydrazino-triazine derivative; and isolating the silica surface functionalized by a hydrazino-triazine derivative by filtration.

Functionalized silica for the synthesis of metal nanoparticles

The method of preparing a functionalizable monolithic platform includes the steps of: functionalizing the silanol groups on a support having silanol groups or the ketone groups on a support having ketone groups with an organic compound having a vinyl group; and copolymerizing the alkenyl-functionalized silanol or ketone groups with itaconic anhydride monomers and vinyl monomers and/or a crosslinker having at least two vinyl reactive groups in a solvent by adding a suitable initiator for a time and temperature or radiation energy sufficient to thereby complete the copolymerization reaction process. The functionalizable monolithic platform has the structural formula: wherein n, m, n' and m&#x2032; are integers greater than 0.
