According to various aspects, disclosed are exemplary embodiments of vehicular antenna assemblies. In an exemplary embodiment, a vehicular antenna assembly generally includes a first satellite antenna configured to be operable for receiving first satellite signals, and a second satellite antenna configured to be operable for receiving second satellite signals different than the first satellite signals received by the first satellite antenna. A reflector is positioned generally between the first and second satellite antennas. The reflector is configured to be operable for reflecting the first satellite signals generally towards the first satellite antenna.

Exemplary embodiments are disclosed of vehicular antenna assemblies and methods relating to assembling vehicular antenna assemblies. In an exemplary embodiment, a vehicular antenna assembly generally includes a dielectric antenna carrier and at least one antenna coupled to the dielectric antenna carrier. The at least one antenna includes a lower end portion that extends downwardly relative to the dielectric antenna carrier. The lower end portion is positionable within an opening in a printed circuit board and/or positionable in electrical contact with a contact member along the printed circuit board when the dielectric antenna carrier and the at least one antenna are moved relatively downward toward the printed circuit board.

Vehicular antenna assemblies

According to various aspects, exemplary embodiments are disclosed herein of vehicular antenna assemblies and radome assemblies for vehicular antenna assemblies. In exemplary embodiments, a radome includes a mount along an inner surface of the radome. A reflector is mounted to the mount of the radome. The mount and the reflector are configured such that the reflector is operable for reflecting, refocusing, and/or directing satellite signals generally towards a satellite antenna of the vehicular antenna assembly when the radome is positioned over the satellite antenna.

Disclosed are exemplary embodiments of multiband multiple input multiple output (MIMO) vehicular antenna assemblies for installation to a vehicle body wall. In exemplary embodiments, a multiband MIMO vehicular antenna assembly generally includes at least one cellular antenna configured to be operable over one or more cellular frequencies (e.g., Long Term Evolution (LTE), etc.), at least one satellite antenna configured to be operable over one or more satellite frequencies (e.g., Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), satellite digital audio radio services (SDARS), etc.) and at least one Dedicated Short Range Communication (DSRC) antenna configured to be operable over DSRC frequencies.

Exemplary embodiments are disclosed of antenna mast assemblies, which may be configured for multiband operation for automobiles or other vehicular applications. In an exemplary embodiment, an antenna mast assembly generally includes a coil radiator including a first coil portion and a second coil portion. The antenna mast assembly also includes a support having a first end portion, a second end portion, a first protruding portion, and a second protruding portion. The coil radiator is disposed about at least a portion of the support such that the first coil portion is between the first protruding portion and the first end portion of the support, and such that the second coil portion is between the second protruding portion and the second end portion of the support.

An antenna assembly for installation to a mobile platform includes a base portion and an antenna module capable of being removably coupled to the base portion. The base portion includes a longitudinal axis and defines a channel extending along at least part of the longitudinal axis. The antenna module includes a mount and an antenna element coupled to the mount. The mount and antenna element can be received into the channel of the base portion, in electrical contact with the base portion, and then subsequently removed from the channel of the base portion as desired. Further, the base portion of the antenna assembly is configured to accommodate multiple different antenna modules as desired.

According to various exemplary embodiments, an antenna assembly generally includes one or more antennas, such as a single multi-frequency antenna, first and second stacked patch antennas, etc. The antenna assembly may be operable for receiving signals having different frequencies (e.g., a frequency associated with a satellite digital audio radio service (SDARS), a frequency associated with a global positioning system (GPS), etc.). The antenna assembly may generally include at least one antenna (e.g., a single multi-frequency antenna, first and second stacked patch antennas, etc.) having at least one feed point and tuned to at least one of a first frequency and a second frequency that is different than the first frequency. A low noise amplifier may be in communication with the at least one feed point for amplifying signals having the first frequency and signals having the second received from a signal output. A single communication link may be used for communicating an output signal of the antenna assembly.

An antenna assembly is provided suitable for use with a remote communications module such as, for example, a keyless entry module, a tire pressure monitoring module, etc. The antenna assembly generally includes a support, a folded metallic antenna element mounted on the support, an amplifier coupled to the folded antenna element, and a transmission line coupled to the amplifier.

Exemplary embodiments are provided of apparatus and methods relating to antenna multiplexers and demultiplexers are disclosed. In exemplary embodiments, antenna multiplexers include two or more inputs for receiving a corresponding number of signals from multiple antennas. The antennas may include world cell antennas, AM/FM antennas, SDARS antennas, GPS antennas, and/or antennas combining the preceding. Exemplary antenna multiplexers also include an output for simultaneously outputting the combined signals received by the multiplexer. Demultiplexers for receiving such combined signals and outputting each signal via a separate output are also disclosed.

The specification discloses various embodiments of modular antenna assemblies for automotive vehicles. In one exemplary embodiment, an antenna generally includes a base assembly that may be used on a variety of vehicle platforms. The antenna may also include a radome assembly that is specific to a particular vehicle platform. The radome assembly may snap-fit onto the base assembly, and be installed during or after vehicle assembly. A wide variety of radome assemblies of different shapes, styles, and colors may be used in conjunction with a single base assembly.

According to various exemplary embodiments, apparatus, systems, and methods are disclosed for use with antenna systems operable for receiving first and second signals having respective first and second frequencies. In one exemplary embodiment, a controller selectively controls whether an amplifier is electrically powered via a first receiver associated with the first frequency or a second receiver associated with the second frequency depending on whether the first receiver, second receiver, or both are present and activated.
