Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Described techniques provide for mitigating error in time or frequency adjustments for preambles of a random access procedure. A user equipment may use one value for the adjustment when transmitting data to a non-terrestrial network, but then transmit the preamble of a random access procedure according to a preamble-specific time or frequency adjustment based on one or more indications received from the network (e.g., rather than resetting the adjustment to '0'). By using some signaled value for the preamble-specific timing or frequency adjustment rather than resetting the adjustment to “0,” preamble reception performance may be maintained or improved with as many or fewer position measurements for the UE or non-terrestrial network entity.

Closed loop time and frequency corrections in non-terrestrial networks

Certain aspects of the present disclosure are directed to techniques for hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) codebook design. For example, a user equipment (UE) configured for feedback processing may comprise a memory and a processor configured to receive, from a base station (BS), a first indication of a first feedback process type for providing feedback to the BS for a plurality of feedback processes of the UE. The memory and the processor may also be configured to receive one or more first downlink transmissions from the BS associated with at least one feedback process of the plurality of feedback processes. The memory and the processor may also be configured to transmit feedback or withhold transmission of feedback to the BS regarding decoding of the one or more first downlink transmissions according to the first feedback process type.

Hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) codebook design

A method for wireless communication by a network node includes transmitting, to a group of user equipment (UEs), radio resource control (RRC) signaling to configure a function for enabling and disabling hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback for a set of N instances of a multicast transport block (TB). The method also includes transmitting, to the group of UEs, the set of N instances of the multicast TB. The method further includes transmitting, to the group of UEs, a downlink control information (DCI) message on a group-common physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) with a cyclic redundancy check (CRC) scrambled by a group-common radio network temporary identifier (RNTI) configured for the group of UEs. The method also includes receiving, from one or more UEs of the group of UEs, a HARQ feedback message associated with one or more instances of the set of N instances after transmitting all N instances.

Hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback control for multicast communications

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for selecting a first orthogonal cover code (OCC) codeword from an OCC matrix for a transmission occurring during a first transmission time interval based on a first pseudo-random codeword allocator function, such as a first pseudo-random permutation matrix, corresponding to the first transmission time interval; and sending the transmission during the first transmission time interval using the first OCC codeword.

Interference randomization in orthogonal cover codes

Aspects described herein relate to receiving an update value for a timing advance of a satellite link between the UE and a base station, computing, based on the update value for the timing advance, a portion of a timing difference between the update value and a previous value for the timing advance of the satellite link that is corrected by closed loop timing advance control from the base station, computing, based at least in part on computing the portion, a total value for the timing advance of the satellite link, and applying, at the UE and based at least in part on the total value for the timing advance of the satellite link and the closed loop timing advance control, an applied timing advance for communicating with the base station.

Techniques for controlling timing of wireless communications devices in non-terrestrial networks

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive, from an entity of a non-terrestrial network (NTN), a system information block (SIB) that indicates information relating to one or more NTN SIBs that are to include at least one of ephemeris information or feeder link timing advance information. Broadcasting of a non-terrestrial network system information block

A method for wireless communication by a user equipment (UE) includes modulating a symbol stream onto at least one subcarrier to generate an uplink signal in a frequency domain for transmitting to a receiver in a non-terrestrial network. The method also includes applying an amount of phase rotation to the at least one subcarrier in the frequency domain. The method further includes transforming the uplink signal from the frequency domain into a time domain uplink signal. The method includes transmitting the time domain uplink signal to the receiver, after applying the phase rotation to the at least one subcarrier.

Compensation of uplink timing errors for non-terrestrial networks

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive a group discontinuous reception (DRX) configuration. The UE may receive, based on the group DRX configuration, a notification communication indicative of group handover information associated with a group of UEs that includes the UE. A user equipment (UE) selects or reselects a target cell of a non-terrestrial network or resumes connectivity with the target cell after a satellite handover for a permanently fixed low Earth orbit (LEO) cell. The target cell is a serving or non-serving cell. The UE determines a cell type of the target cell. The cell type may be a LEO cell type, a geostationary Earth orbit (GEO) cell type, a moving cell type, a fixed cell type, a temporarily fixed LEO cell type, or a permanently fixed LEO cell type. The UE completes selection or reselection of the target cell or completes the connectivity with the target cell, based on the cell type.

Cell type selection for non-terrestrial networks

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive an indication to transmit a communication associated with a configured grant in a non-terrestrial network (NTN), the indication indicating a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) process identifier and a configured grant index of the communication. Transmission in configured grant and semi-persistent scheduling in non-terrestrial network

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive broadcast information from a base station indicating a numerology or a reference signal (RS) pattern to be used in broadcast or multicast transmissions (e.g., a physical multicast channel (PMCH)). The UE may identify a modulation and coding scheme (MCS) associated with the broadcast or multicast transmission and may determine a transport block size (TBS) based on the MCS and at least one of the numerology or the RS pattern. For instance, a UE may determine TBS for numerologies associated with a single symbol that spans multiple subframes differently from that of other numerologies. Additionally or alternatively, a UE may determine TBS for sparse RS patterns differently from that of other RS patterns. The UE may then perform communication with the base station via the broadcast or multicast transmissions in accordance with the TBS.

Multimedia broadcast multicast services with new numerologies and reference signal patterns

A scheduling offset between an uplink and downlink radio frame timing structure of a user equipment (UE) may be updated to provide for more efficient utilization of hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) processes in a non-terrestrial network. For instance, different UEs may experience different round trip delays (RTDs) with a non-terrestrial cell. Different UEs may be configured with different scheduling offsets such that scheduling delays may be reduced and HARQ processes identifiers may be reused more rapidly. Additionally or alternatively, wireless communications systems may define one or more separation distances (or timing thresholds) for timing between communications and HARQ processes may be reused based on the separation distance threshold (e.g., such that a satellite may reuse a HARQ process ID for two scheduled communications that have not yet been performed by the UE).

Data channel timelines in wireless communications systems

In a communication between a user equipment (UE) and a network node, the UE may receive a grant of uplink (UL) shared channel (SCH) resources from the network node. Each of the UL SCH resources may be associated with one of a plurality of hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) processes. Each HARQ process may be at least one of a plurality of HARQ process types, and each HARQ process type may be based on HARQ feedback status and HARQ retransmission status. The UE may transmit a control message on one or more UL SCH resources in response to the one or more UL SCH resources being determined to be usable based on the HARQ process type of the HARQ processes associated with the one or more of the UL SCH resources.

Hybrid automatic repeat request feedback in network

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive a message from a first non-terrestrial network cell indicating cell synchronization information for a second non-terrestrial network cell. In some examples, the cell synchronization information may indicate whether the first non-terrestrial network cell and the second non-terrestrial network cell are synchronized at a reference point. Additionally, or alternatively, the cell synchronization information may indicate a timing offset value between a first uplink time synchronization reference point of the first non-terrestrial network cell and a second uplink time synchronization reference point of the second non-terrestrial network cell. The UE may calculate a timing associated with signaling from the second non-terrestrial network cell based at least in part on the cell synchronization information. The UE may receive one or more signals from the second non-terrestrial network cell based at least in part on the calculated timing.
