An ink set includes a treatment agent containing fumed silica and a bright pigment ink containing a bright pigment and water. The treatment agent or the bright pigment ink contains urethane resin.

Ink set

A liquid cartridge includes a liquid chamber, a partitioning wall partitioning the liquid chamber into a first liquid chamber and a second liquid chamber, a communication opening through which liquid can flow from the first liquid chamber to the second liquid chamber, and a movable member which is movable between a block position and a communication position. When the movable member is in the block position, the movable member is configured to prevent the liquid from flowing from the first liquid chamber to the second liquid chamber through the communication opening, and when the movable member is in the communication position, the liquid is allowed to flow from the first liquid chamber to the second liquid chamber through the communication opening.

Liquid cartridge

A liquid consuming apparatus includes a liquid container, a detector, and a controller. The liquid container includes a movable member, and the movable member includes a detection portion. The detector is configured to output a detection signal based on the presence or absence of the detection portion in a detection position. The controller is configured to measure, based on the detection signal output from the detector, a physical quantity, based on which a velocity of the detection portion can be specified, and is configured to determine whether the physical quantity is within a threshold range.

Liquid consuming apparatus

A liquid cartridge includes a liquid chamber configured to store liquid therein, a liquid supply portion configured to supply the liquid from the liquid chamber to the outside of the liquid cartridge, an air communication portion configured to bring the liquid chamber into communication with the atmosphere outside the liquid cartridge, and a capillary portion having a first end configured to be in communication with the liquid chamber and a second end configured to be in communication with the atmosphere outside the liquid cartridge. The capillary portion is configured to move the liquid from the first end to the second end therethrough by capillary force when the liquid chamber is brought into communication with the atmosphere outside the liquid cartridge via the air communication portion.

A liquid consuming apparatus includes a liquid cartridge including a capillary portion having a first end configured to be in communication with the liquid chamber and a second end configured to be in communication with the atmosphere outside the liquid cartridge. The apparatus also includes a detector configured to output a detection signal based on the presence or absence of the liquid in a detection position in the capillary portion and a controller configured to measure, based on the detection signal output from the detector, a physical quantity, based on which a velocity of liquid moving in the capillary portion can be specified and determine whether the physical quantity is within a threshold range.

A liquid discharge recording apparatus includes: a liquid containing first glycol ether; a liquid discharge head which discharges the liquid; an absorber which absorbs the liquid discharged from the liquid discharge head; and second glycol ether which is contained in the absorber and of which vapor pressure is lower than that of the first glycol ether.

A recording method includes applying, to a recording medium, a treatment agent containing inorganic fine particles; discharging a bright pigment ink containing a bright pigment and water to a portion of the recording medium to which the treatment agent has been applied; and discharging a water-based pigment ink containing a pigment different from the bright pigment and water to the portion of the recording medium to which the bright pigment ink has been discharged.

Recording method

A liquid cartridge includes a movable member and the movable member includes a detection portion and an anchor. The liquid cartridge also includes a restriction member and the restriction member includes an operation portion and a restriction portion. When the operation portion is in a first position, the restriction portion is configured to contact the movable member such that the movement of the anchor is restricted within a restricted range. When the operation portion is in a second position, the restriction portion is configured to release the movable member such that the anchor is positioned in a free range which is below the restricted range.

A water-based ink for ink-jet recording includes a pigment; water; an acetylene glycol-based surfactant contained by 0.1% by weight to 0.3% by weight in the water-based ink; tripropylene glycol methyl ether contained by 2.5% by weight to 4.5% by weight in the water-based ink; and tripropylene glycol n-butyl ether contained by 0.5% by weight to 1.5% by weight in the water-based ink.

A liquid cartridge includes a movable member and the movable member includes a detection portion and a float. The liquid cartridge also includes a restriction member and the restriction member includes an operation portion and a restriction portion. When the operation portion is in a first position, the restriction portion is configured to contact the movable member such that the movement of the float is restricted within a restricted range. When the operation portion is in a second position, the restriction portion is configured to release the movable member such that the float is positioned in a free range which is above the restricted range.

A liquid discharge recording apparatus includes: a liquid; a liquid discharge head configured to discharge the liquid; an absorber configured to absorb the liquid discharged from the liquid discharge head; and unsaturated fatty acid of which specific gravity is smaller than that of the liquid and which is contained in the absorber.

A liquid discharge recording apparatus includes: a first liquid containing 2-pyrrolidone; a liquid discharge head configured to discharge the first liquid; a second liquid containing a solvent of which freezing point is less than 20 degrees Celsius and of which specific gravity is less than 1.12 g/cm; and an absorber which contains the second liquid and which is configured to absorb the first liquid exited from the liquid discharge head.

The detector is configured to output a detection signal based on an amount of liquid which has flowed from the first liquid chamber to the second liquid chamber. The controller is configured to measure, based on the detection signal output from the detector, a physical quantity, based on which a flow rate of liquid flowing from the first liquid chamber to the second liquid chamber can be specified, and is configured to determine whether the physical quantity is within a threshold range.
