The present disclosure provides a glass composition for glass fibers, the glass composition including, in mass %: SiO: 59.5 to 62.5%; AlO: 19 to 21.2%; BO: 0 to 0.5%; MgO: 16 to 18%; CaO: 0 to 1.5%; LiO: 0 to 1.0%; NaO: 0 to 0.2%; KO: 0 to 0.1%; TiO: 0 to 5%; ZrO: 0 to 5%; ZnO: 0 to 1.5%; and F: 0 to 0.1%.

Glass fiber and composition for glass fibers

A glass fiber according to the present invention is suitable for preventing filament breakage and suitable for being stably produced for a long term, and has a ß-OH value of 0.02 mmor more and less than 0.55 mm. The preferred content of SOis more than 0 ppm and 70 ppm or less on a mass basis. The glass fiber is preferably substantially free of As and Sb. SOcan be supplied to a glass raw material as, for example, a sulfuric acid salt of an alkali metal or an alkaline-earth metal.

Glass fiber and method for producing the same

The present disclosure provides a novel glass composition that has a low permittivity and is suitable for mass production. A glass composition provided satisfies, in wt %, for example, 40&#x2264;SiO&#x2264;60, 25&#x2264;BO&#x2264;45, 0&#x3c;AlO&#x2264;18, 0&#x3c;RO&#x2264;5, and 0&#x2264;RO&#x2264;12, and satisfies at least one of: i) SiO+BO&#x2265;80 and SiO+BO+AlO&#x2264;99.9; and ii) SiO+BO&#x2265;78, SiO+BO+AlO&#x2264;99.9, and 0&#x3c;RO&#x3c;10. Another glass composition provided includes SiO, BO, AlO, RO, and 3&#x3c;RO&#x3c;8 at the same contents as the above, and satisfies SiO+BO&#x2265;75 and SiO+BO+AlO&#x3c;97, where RO=LiO+NaO+KO and RO=MgO+CaO+SrO.

Glass composition, glass fiber, glass cloth, and method for producing glass fiber

The present invention provides a glass composition not requiring a large quantity of rare earth material, producible by a common apparatus for producing a glass, having a high Young's modulus and a large crack initiation load, and suitable for glass fibers etc. A glass composition according to the present invention contains, in mol %: 50 to 65% SiO; 7.5 to 26% AlO; 15 to 30% MgO; 0 to 8% CaO; 0 to 3% BO; 0 to 3% LiO; and 0 to 0.2% NaO. In this glass composition, a total content of MgO and CaO is in a range of 18 to 35 mol %, and a mol ratio calculated by AlO/(MgO+CaO) is less than 1.

Glass composition and glass product using same

Provided is a glass composition containing, in mol %: 56 to 66% SiO; 6 to 12% AlO; 5 to 14% MgO; 0 to 1% CaO; 17 to 24% NaO; and 0 to 3% KO. The total content of LiO, NaO, and KO is in a range of 18.5 to 24%. This glass composition is suitable for production by a float process and for introduction of a compressive stress layer with a high crack initiation load, a high surface compressive stress, and a large thickness by chemical strengthening.
