The invention relates to a plastic fuel tank () for motor vehicles having at least one tank wall () surrounding at least one fuel volume, wherein the tank wall () is provided at least in a certain area or certain areas with means for increasing flexural rigidity in the form of two-dimensionally extended reinforcing layers () connected materially and/or positively thereto (FIG.).

Plastic fuel tank

The invention relates to a motor vehicle fuel tank () of thermoplastics having at least one filler neck () not moulded on in one piece, the latter being connected in a fluid-tight manner to the fuel tank (), wherein the filler neck () is inserted into an opening () in the fuel tank () and is sealed by sealing means () at its outer circumference relative to the fuel tank () in the opening (). The filler neck () is clamped axially against the tank wall (), with the seal acting radially.

Motor vehicle fuel tank

The invention relates to a filler neck () for a fuel tank of a motor vehicle which has at least one tubular section () provided in the area of the filler inlet to receive the outlet pipe () of a fuel delivery nozzle. The filler neck () according to the invention has the distinguishing feature of at least one insert forming a constriction as a flame barrier, which encloses the outlet pipe (), forming at least one gas passage gap (), the gap dimension being selected so that any flashback is prevented.

Filler neck

A method and a device are provided for determining the amount of fuel in the fuel tank of a motor vehicle. The fuel tank has a main storage reservoir which is provided with a filling level meter for determining the respective fuel therein and a reserve reservoir which is of substantially smaller volume in comparison with the main storage reservoir, which is closed in itself, and which is supplied with fuel by a pump from the main storage reservoir. After the main storage reservoir is emptied, the fuel reserve which is then still contained in the reserve reservoir is calculated as the difference of a defined volume of the reserve reservoir ( ) and the fuel consumption summed over time.

Method and device for determining the fuel reserve in a motor vehicle fuel system

A fuel tank has a delivery unit which is arranged within the tank body and which has a reservoir. The delivery unit can be introduced into the tank body through a closable opening in the wall thereof. The tank further includes a filling level measuring device which is arranged outside the reservoir of the delivery unit and which can also be introduced into the tank body through the opening. The measuring device can be introduced into the tank body separately from the delivery unit and is held in its operative position by a holder mounted to the opening. The holder can be in the form of a ring mounted to the edge of the opening.

Fuel tank with filling level measurement

A fuel tank for a motor vehicle, comprising a tank body with a smaller reservoir which is arranged therein and which is inserted into the tank body through a closable opening in the wall thereof, and joined thereto. The reservoir is deformable at least in portions of the wall defining same. After the reservoir has been at least partially inserted into the tank body, it undergoes a change in shape resulting in an increase in its volume within the tank body and a change in its cross-section such that the largest cross-section of the reservoir is larger than the cross-section of the opening of the wall in the tank body, that is available for insertion of the reservoir. The reservoir is defined at its ends by rigid components and the deformable wall portion of the reservoir is in the region between those components.

1. A fuel tank (1) having a filler neck (3) closable by a filling flap (2), the volatile fuel components (5) located in free space (4) of the fuel tank (1) being able to be fed into a storage chamber (7) filled with an absorption element (6), including a vent line (8) that connects the free space (4) to the storage chamber (7) and is closable by a valve (9). The filler neck (3), on the side facing away from the fuel tank (1), has a plug fitting (10) with a valve support (11). The valve (9) includes a sealing flap (12), the sealing flap (12) and the filling flap (2) forming components of the valve support (11), each being able to pivot about a shaft (13,14), and, being acted upon by spring tension, each being able to be placed against a valve seat (15,16) in the valve support (11). The sealing flap (12) and the filling flap (2) are mechanically coupled by a driving device (17) and are able to be forced jointly into the open position by inserting a gas hose nozzle (18) through the filling flap (2) into the filler neck (3).
