Provided is a method in which a processor (1) accesses a database which contains a set of data records containing a focus data record, (2) selects first data records from the set of data records, the first context information of which does not correspond to the first context information of the focus data record, and the second context information of which corresponds to the second context information of the focus data record, (3) lines up a focus graphic, (4) selects second data records from the set of data records, the first context information of which corresponds to the first context information of the focus data record, and the second context information of which does not correspond to the second context information of the focus data record, and (5) lines up second graphics.

A user interface, computer program, computer readable media and method arranges displays on a lateral surface of a cylinder, which displays can be easily viewed and selected by rotation about the axis of rotation of the cylinder. A user operates an input element for this purpose. A drive rotates the lateral surface containing the displays according to the user's inputs. In addition to this exemplary embodiment of a mechanical arrangement, a user interface is also proposed which visualizes the displays and the lateral surface only virtually as graphical objects on a graphical user interface. The rotation of the displays is now output as an animation on the graphical user interface. This affords the advantage that a visualization is provided which images a mental model of the user on the graphical user interface and simultaneously increases the user's attention by means of the animation.

A method for monitoring an installation having a networked topology, wherein measured values characterizing a state of the installation at the measuring point in question are captured and transmitted to a control-center apparatus, which determines state values indicating a state of the installation. The state values are used to show the state of the installation and they are compared with state threshold values that bound an operating range of the installation. A graphical representation is produced only for those state values for which a past or imminent violation of the associated state threshold value is detected. A visual display of a network topology is displayed on a display. Location information indicating the position of the state value in question in the installation is associated with each of the state values, and each representation is displayed at the point corresponding to the position of the representation in the installation.

In a computerized method and apparatus for processing digital information for display on a display unit, digital information representing a number of items of first superordinate information and a number of items of second detailed information, respectively associated with an item of superordinate information, are read from a memory. These items of first and second information are processed such that the first information can be displayed in a first display region the display unit and the second information can simultaneously be displayed in a second display region of the display unit, with a display of the information in one of the display regions causing no modification of the size of the other display region. The first and the second display regions interact such that the associated second information regarding a number of items of information displayed in the first display region can be displayed in the second display region.

Computerized method and apparatus for processing digital information for display thereof

A system and a method for graphical interconnection of hardware signals of a device, (e.g., a controller device) are provided. The graphical interconnection can now be implemented in a simple manner so that a user can perform this function intuitively and without knowledge of the address convention used in the engineering system. This may be achieved by the inventive system and by the inventive method by the hardware signals being interconnected graphically with program elements of a programming environment using drag & drop features in a graphical user interface.
