A high-thermal conductivity grout composition is provided. The composition includes a grout mixture including a cementitious material, a retarder, and a high-thermal k material that advantageously can form a pumpable slurry upon admixture with water. The retarder is present in an amount effective that delays setting of the grout mixture at a target location having a geostatic target temperature of at least 300° F. for at least two hours. The high-thermal k material is present in an amount effective such that the grout mixture has, upon setting at the target location, a thermal conductivity of at least 1 W/m° K.

High thermal coefficient grout compositions and methods therefor

A thermal reach enhanced geothermal wellbore has a plurality of fissures at a target location that distally extend into the formation and that are at least partially filled with a compacted high-thermal k material. The compacted high-thermal k material terminates on a proximal end of the fissure at the target location of the wellbore and is thermally coupled to a high-thermal conductivity grout or slurry through which heat is conducted to a working fluid that is contained in a closed loop working fluid conduit embedded in the grout or slurry.

Systems and methods for thermal reach enhancement

A measurement cell includes: an enclosure; a flexible membrane disposed in the enclosure so as to contain a hardenable material; and means for stiffening the membrane configured to assume two alternative states: a stiffness state, in which the stiffening means resist the expansion of the hardenable material during solidification; and a flexible state, in which the stiffening means exert a stress that is less than that exerted in the stiffness state allowing at least one physical, chemical or mechanical property of the hardenable material to be measured and the hardenable material to be extracted from the enclosure; the stiffening means being produced by a set of metal wires connected to a clasp configured to modify the stiffness exerted by the metal wires.

Measurement cell and associated measurement method

The present invention relates to a method for determining mechanical parameters of a cementitious system, on the basis of time, and on the basis of the fineness of the cementitious system, pressure and/or temperature, representative of the in situ conditions found in wellbores. The initial composition of the cementitious system, the fineness &#x3a6; thereof and the speed of the compression waves on the basis of time V(t) are the only input data of the method. Said method comprises: &#x25aa; a step A of estimating the degree of hydration of the cementitious system on the basis of time &#x3b1;(t) from Vp(t), at a pressure Pand a temperature T; &#x25aa; a step B wherein &#x3b1;(t) is determined on the basis of desired values of fineness &#x3a6;n of the cementitious system, pressure Pn and/or temperature Tn; &#x25aa; a step C wherein the composition of the cementitious system is determined on the basis of time C(t) and on the basis of desired values of fineness &#x3a6;n of the cementitious system, pressure Pn and/or temperature Tn from &#x3b1;(t) determined in step B; &#x25aa; and a step D of determining at least one mechanical parameter of the cementitious system on the basis of time and on the basis of desired values of fineness &#x3a6;n of the cementitious system, pressure Pn and/or temperature Tn, from C(t) determined in step C. According to the method of the invention, these parameters can be determined while the cementitious system is still very young. In particular, the parameters of static deformability and hydro-mechanical coupling parameters are determined by the method according to the invention.
