An airbag module for a motor vehicle is provided. The airbag module comprising a gas bag, which is inflatable by means of a gas generator for the protection of a person, and a vent opening through which gas originating from the airbag module can escape, and a device for controlling the outlet cross-section of the vent opening, which comprises at least one covering member with which the vent opening can be covered, in order to at least partly close the same, and which furthermore comprises an actuating mechanism which cooperates with the covering member, in order to vary the outlet cross-section of the vent opening. The actuating mechanism includes a gas source and an element inflatable by means of the gas source, which during inflation cooperates with the covering member such that it effects a change in the outlet cross-section of the vent opening.

Airbag module for a motor vehicle

A lock deflection device for a motor vehicle for deflecting a seat belt comprises a lock tongue for insertion into a lock buckle and a first contact area connected to the lock tongue around which the seat belt can be laid to deflect the seat belt, so that the seat belt is divided into a shoulder segment and a pelvis segment, which go off in different directions from the first contact area, wherein the first contact area can be moved from an initial position, in which the seat belt can slide along on the deflection device, into a final position. According to the invention, a second contact area connected to the lock tongue is provided, which is arranged to contact the seat belt in case of a first contact area being moved out of the initial position, in order to restrain the seat belt from sliding along on the deflection device, wherein the first contact area is connected to the lock tongue through a movable area of the lock deflection device.

Lock deflection device

An airbag module for a motor vehicle includes an airbag that may be inflated for restraining a person, at least one outlet opening for releasing gas out of the module and originating at least partially from the inflated airbag, and a reservoir containing coolant for cooling the gas released from the module through the outlet opening. The reservoir includes a wall that sealingly encloses the coolant and is opened to bring the coolant into direct contact with the released gas to cool the released gas.

A driver or front passenger airbag including a gas bag which can be inflated in a head-on collision to protect a motor vehicle occupant. The gas bag including two sections which are separated from one another so that the inflated gas bag has, on its front side facing the occupant to be protected, a gap which runs between the gas bag sections. The gap is spanned by a sheet so that, in the case of an impact directed toward the front side of the gas bag, the occupant to be protected is prevented by the sheet from penetrating into the gap.

Airbag

The invention relates to a variable-volume airbag module. According to the invention, to limit the air bag volume at least one pull element is provided for which is loosely guided at the level of the air bag and attached at its ends after the airbag has been gathered, and which is released or tears if it is subjected to a certain stress during unfolding of the air bag.
