There is provided a wireless headphone unit having at least one electroacoustic transducer and a transmitting/receiving unit for wirelessly receiving first signals which contain audio signals to be reproduced on the electroacoustic transducer and a network identification unit for storing the network identification of the wireless headphone unit, wherein the transmitting/receiving unit is adapted for wirelessly transmitting the network identification of the headphone unit.

Wireless headphones and data transmission method

The invention relates to a process for the transmission of digitized audio information of high quality and with a short delay, in particular processes for the transmission of digitized audio information in an audio pickup (microphone) and/or playback path. According to the invention there is proposed a channel filter which is used to shape the high frequency spectrum of the transmission, wherein the spectrum has no attenuation in a first range of about 100 to 300 kHz useful bandwidth and in a range outside the first range it has a stop-band attenuation of particularly preferably more than 60 dB or more than 80 dB.

The invention is based on the idea of providing a method for high-resolution, waveform-preserving digitization of analog signals, wherein conventional scalar logarithmic quantization is transferred to multi-dimensional spherical coordinates, and the advantages resulting from this, e.g., a constant signal/noise ratio over an extremely high dynamic range with very low loss with respect to the rate-distortion theory. In order to make use of the statistical dependencies present in the source signal for an additional gain in the signal/noise ratio, the differential pulse code modulation (DPCM) is combined with spherical logarithmic quantization. The resulting method achieves an effective data reduction with a high long-term and short-term signal/noise ratio with an extremely small signal delay.

Infrared light is used in a device for wireless transmission of digital data, e.g. in headphones. In order to satisfy the strict requirements regarding compactness and power consumption, it is proposed that three digital stereo sampling values are encoded in data frames of 128-bit length for channel coding. Control characteristics and synchronizing characteristics are added to these data frames. A special coding rule is used for the sampling value coding.
