A light emitting diode (LED) shielding and monitoring system includes multiple light emitting diodes (LEDs) (), multiple optical detectors () for detecting a light output of the plurality of LEDs (), and a LED shield () with multiple compartments () for receiving the multiple optical detectors (). An optical system () for a light emitting diode (LED) signal includes a plurality of light emitting diodes (LEDs) (), a plurality of optical lenses () for diverging and collimating light generated by the plurality of LEDs (), wherein the plurality of LEDs () and the plurality of optical lenses () are sequentially arranged in an axial direction, and wherein the plurality of optical lenses () are configured such that by altering an axial position of one of the optical lenses () from a first defined axial position to a second defined axial position, a final angular light distribution of the optical system () is variable.

Optical system for a LED signal and wayside LED signal

A display element and a display device in which the display element is mounted. The display may be a variable message sign. The sign includes a tube-like housing in which lenses and apertures can be disposed. The light exiting a light source is emitted via an emitting surface, by way of which an illuminated traffic sign results from interacting with further display elements. The light source and the optical elements are disposed at different heights in the horizontally oriented housing. The optical axes can thereby extend horizontally, or the optical elements can lie on a main axis which is tilted downward in an radiation direction. In both cases, sunlight impinging from above at an angle advantageously falls on the LED to a slight degree, by way of which the phantom light phenomenon is minimized.

Optical display element and display device

The invention relates to a coupling unit for optically coupling a multi-channel optical plug-in element to at least one opto-electronic converter of a multi-channel transmitter and/or receiver unit and to a method for inserting optical wave guides into said optical coupling unit. The coupling unit comprises a first coupling side for optical coupling to the multi-channel optical plug-in element, a second coupling side for optical coupling to the at least one opto-electronic converter and a plurality of receiving openings for optical wave guides; said openings being arranged on a plane, extending from the first coupling side to the second coupling side. According to the invention, the coupling unit is embodied in a single piece and the receiving openings extend at least partially inside the coupling unit. The optical wave guides are inserted into the single-piece coupling unit with the aid of an optical plug-in element. The receiving openings of the optical plug-in element are flush with the receiving elements of the coupling unit.

The holder receives at least one plug connector housing formed with individual housing rest arms. The rest arms are formed with locking elements. The holder has action areas acting on the rest arms. If a suitable force is exerted on rear activation areas of the holder, the action areas act on the rest arms and move the locking elements into an unlocked position.

A multi-conductor optical cable is received by a fan out element. A plurality of individual receiving sheaths housing in each case one individual optical waveguide are also received in the fan out element. At least two of the receiving sheaths extend longitudinally parallel and are continuously connected to one another between the fan out element and a separation point.

The fiber optical plug connector has a pin, a helical spring bearing against the pin with a rearward axial force and a one-piece housing with a closed front segment and a through opening. A side wall opening behind the front segment allows the pin fitted with the helical spring to be inserted. Holding elements secure the pin and/or the helical spring from being displaced radially outward after the plug and the spring have been snapped into radial alignment.

Fiber optic plug connector

An optical short-circuit plug for short-circuiting two optical units, especially a sender and receiver unit of a sender/receiver module, includes a short-circuit optical waveguide having ends. Two separate plug pins each accommodate a respective one of the ends of the short-circuit optical waveguide for coupling to an optical unit. Jackets of elastic material each at least partially surround a respective one of the plug pins, for displaceably supporting the plug pins upon elastic deformation of the jackets, in order to generate a defined contact pressure and equalize tolerances.

In a support receptacle and a method for producing the same, a molded part is injected into a sleeve that can be produced with great tolerance and has a flange. The molded part has a through-conduit, which serves the purpose of fixation of portions of an optical cable with a glass fiber. On a front end, the molded part tapers conically and a polishing bevel and the glass fiber can preferably be polished in one operation. Such support receptacles can be used for permanent coupling of electrooptical components to optical cables.
