A method for preadjusting and controlling strip planarity in flexible single-pass and reversing rolling of a strip-shaped material web using at least one work roll pair forming a roll gap and back-up rolls for the work rolls, and devices for roll adjustment, roll bending, roll displacement and roll balancing. The method includes, when rolling a thickness ramp for adjusting a desired strip profile shape over the strip width, determining corresponding adjustment parameters by accessing on-line a multidimensional data matrix produced off-line through a FEM model for all adjustment ranges of rolling force, roll displacement and bending control at all occurring strip widths.

Method for preadjusting and controlling the strip planarity in flexible single-pass and reversing rolling of a strip-shaped material web

A cooling and lubricating device for rollers of a cold rolling mill with one or more roll stands for controlling strip tensile stress of the strip across the width by changing the effective roll barrel diameter and/or the roller lubrication with a controlled supply of rolling oil or emulsions. The supply is pressure-, quantity-, and/or temperature-controlled. Several nozzle beams are provided and assigned to individual rollers, respectively. The nozzle beams are connected to side shields of the roll housing. Spray nozzles are mounted in the nozzle beams and distributed across the entire roller width. The nozzle beams are moveable independently relative to the rollers transverse to the strip running direction and in planes parallel to the strip plane. Rotary and linear drives are connected to the nozzle beams for rotating the nozzle beams about the longitudinal axis and for moving them in the longitudinal direction.

Roller cooling and lubricating device for cold rolling mills such as thin strip and foil rolling mills

A cooling and lubricating device for a cold rolling mill has nozzle beams with spray nozzles for individual rollers that are moveable relative to the rollers independently of one another transverse to the strip running direction. Rotary and linear drives are connected to the nozzle beams for rotating them about the longitudinal axis and moving them longitudinally. The nozzle beams are movable from a maintenance position to a working position and back. The spray nozzles have nozzle holders mounted in openings of the nozzle beams and nozzle heads mounted in the nozzle holders. Rotary slide valves with control members are rotatably supported in center throughbores of the nozzle holders. The rotary slide valves have blind bores opening to the nozzle heads and inlet openings aligned with inlet openings of the nozzle holder or nozzle head, when the spray nozzle is open, and covered by the nozzle holder or nozzle head, when the spray nozzle is closed.

The invention relates to a method for treating and conditioning circulated rolling oil, comprising removing dirt and abrasion particles from the returned rolling oil by filtration, feeding filter aids in a controlled manner, and adjusting an electric conductivity preventing electrostatic charging in the purified rolling oil. So that conductivity additives can be omitted, a flocculating agent is employed as the filter aid, and the amounts in which the agent is added depends on the residual contamination remaining in the filtrate, so that a preset minimum conductivity caused by the remaining residual contamination is preserved in the filtrate.

Method of treating and conditioning circulated rolling oil

A roll stand with multiple rolls for rolling strip-shaped rolling stock has a roll frame and upper and lower working rolls mounted on the roll frame in a common vertical roll axis plane, wherein the rolling stock is guided between the upper and lower working rolls forming a roll set. Upper and lower support roll insert parts are mounted on the roll frame. Two upper support rolls are mounted in the upper support roll insert parts and support the upper working roll, and two lower support rolls are mounted in the lower support roll insert parts and support the lower working roll. The two upper and the two lower support rolls are arranged symmetrically to the vertical roll axis plane, respectively. Working roll bending devices are mounted on the roll frame and act on the upper and lower working rolls. Balancing devices are mounted on the roll frame and advance and balance the upper and lower support rolls. The two upper and two lower support rolls are axially moveable independently from one another relative to a vertical center plane of the roll frame, extending perpendicularly to the vertical roll axis plane, by same or different axial displacement lengths in order to compensate roll set bending of the roll set and to provide adjustment to a width of the roll stock for flexible rolling via the working rolls.

A process for online measurement of electrical conductivity to control minimum conductivity of fluids, especially rolling oil, which prevents charging and discharging, by controlled addition of conductivity additives. The process measures the time change of conductivity to determine the amount of extremely fine particulate fouling and the degree of impurity of the rolling oil. The process also provides online measurement of the dielectric constant and online measurement of permeability.

A six-high multi-roll stand (1), has one top and one bottom work roll (2, 3) which are supported in chocks (4, 5), with one top and one bottom intermediate roll (6, 7) which are supported in chocks (8, 9), and with one top and one bottom back-up roll (10, 11) with bearings located in one top and one bottom chock (12, 13). Two functional units are integrated into windows (16) of two roll housings (14, 15) with four each hydraulic operating cylinder units (18, 18, 19, 19) located symmetrically and parallel to roll axis plan 17--17), each operating cylinder unit (18, 19) consisting of top operating cylinder (18a, 19a) with top actuating piston (20a, 21a) which acts on chock (12) of top back-up roll (10) and bottom operating cylinder (18b, 19b) with bottom actuating piston 20b, 21b) which acts on chock (13) of bottom back-up roll (11) for counterbalancing back-up roll (10), and two operating cylinders (18a, 18b; 19a, 19b) of each operating cylinder unit (18, 19) in common cylinder housing (22, 23). Double-acting actuating sleeves (24a, 24b; 25a, 25b) cause bending of intermediate rolls (6, 7) and work rolls (2, 3) and engage chocks (8, 9; 4, 5) of intermediate rolls (6, 7) and work rolls (2, 3) by means of projections (26).

Multiroll stand

A rolling mill has a rolling stand having two roll standards for supporting rolls having roll pins at opposite ends of each roll with bearings interposed between the standards and the pins. A chock (10) surrounds each bearing and is releasably secured within a standard. A housing (12) is detachably secured on an outer side of the chock. The housing carries stop elements (14) mounted for movement in a direction parallel to the axis (13--13) of the roll. A first hydraulic jack (16) advances the stop elements toward a midplane (33--33) of the roll and into abutment with the roll, thereby to position the housing correctly along the roll axis. A plurality of clamping elements (21) is spaced apart about an endwise outer part (34) of the roll pin (8). A second hydraulic jack (25) moves the clamping elements into clamping engagement with the outer section (34) of the roll pin (8). A coil compression spring (29) releases the clamping elements when the second jack is released and a leaf spring (24) moves the clamping elements out of engagement with the outer section (34) of the roll pin (8). Another coil compression spring (17) retracts the stop elements (14) from engagement with the roll pin (8) when the first jack (16) is deactivated.

The strip coiler (1) for winding up and unwinding thin-gage and foil strip material of metal comprises a horizontal, motor-driven coiler mandrel (3) rotatably supported in a machine stand, for receiving the coiler reel (4) of a coil (5), and at least one smoothing roll (6) movable toward and away from the coiler mandrel (3) for pressing the strip (2) against the coil (5). The strip coiler (1) is equipped with control capability for the horizontal desired position of the smoothing roll (6), oriented in parallel to the coiler mandrel (3), this control being performed by an adjustment of the controlling forces of the operating cylinders for pressing the smoothing roll (6) against the coil (5) in dependence on the inclined positioning of the smoothing roll (6) caused by defects in the strip (2) or by unavoidable out-of-roundness of the surface of the wound-up strip (2). The strip coiler (1) is furthermore provided with regulating means for setting the distance (a) between the point of first contact (12) of the strip (2) with the coil (5) and the contact point (13) of smoothing roll (6) and coil (5) in dependence on the coil diameter (14).

Strip coiler

The apparatus for the counterbalancing and vertical bending of the work rolls of a four-high rolling mill stand (1) comprises respectively two dual-acting hydraulic adjusting cylinders (13) installed in the bottom work roll chocks (4) symmetrically to the roll axis plane (12--12). The adjusting piston (14) of the adjusting cylinders (13) serves for moving the piston rod (15) out of the bottom chock (4) and for moving the free end of the piston rod (15) into the top work roll chock (15) during rolling operation, and for moving the piston rod (15) into the bottom chock (4) for the separate dismounting of the work rolls (6, 7). During rolling operation, the extended piston rod (15) is connected, by means of a coupling device (16), with a shaft (22) supported in articulated fashion in the top chock (5).

Transmission In conventional transmissions utilized, for example, in rolling mill facilities, the shifting procedure is cumbersome and time-consuming. The shifting process is to be simplified in the novel transmission. The multiple-speed, e.g. two-speed transmisssion (1) exhibits two pinions (2, 3) rotatably supported on a motor-driven input shaft (5), of shifting speeds I and II, for driving two gear wheels (6, 7) non-rotationally arranged on an output shaft. The pinions (2, 3) can be coupled selectively with the input shaft (5) by means of the hydraulic clamping sleeves (10) of two friction clutches (8, 9). The transmission is especially suited for use in rolling mill drive mechanisms.

Gearshift system

The monitoring device is constructed in such a way that the temperature measurement takes place directly at the bearing and there is no need for detaching connecting lines during changing of rolls. The main features of the monitoring device for roll bearings, installed, for example, in the chock (1) of the work roll (3) of a roll stand, reside in a thermal limit value pickup (6) in contact with the roll bearing (7), as well as in a mechanical, spring-loaded transmission member (8) locked in place in the chock (1) by way of the limit value pickup, for acting on a signal generator (9) arranged outside of the chock (1) in the roll stand, this signal generator being actuated to shut down the rolling mill by automatic outward movement of the transmission member (8) after releasing its locking device by the limit value pickup (6) upon reaching a limit temperature of the roll bearing (7). The monitoring device is preferably intended for use in thin-gage strip and foil rolling mills having high rolling speeds.

A flatness measuring device for thin-gage strip in cold rolling mills comprises a rotating measuring roller (13) is arranged transversely to the strip travel direction (a) and across the strip width (b) and detects the rolled strip (6), with at least one surface groove (22) extending over the entire roller length (21), as well as a scanner (23) with one or more light beams (L4) for scanning strip wavinesses (24) that may occur over the upper section (31) of the surface groove (22) of the measuring roller (13) on account of a differing strip tension distribution over the strip width (b), which section (31) travels, on account of the rotational movement of the roller (13), over the entire length of the roller (13).

Flatness measuring device for strip-shaped rolled material

The device for the detection and regulation of the planeness of strip-shaped rolled products, especially thin-gage strips (1), for cold rolling mills comprises a planeness measuring system with individual measuring elements, which system includes, for example, a planeness measuring roller (3) composed of individual measuring disks (4) with force measuring transmitters arranged along the circumference. By the planeness measuring roller (3), the strip tensile stress is measured over the strip width (5), from which is calculated the longitudinal distribution (.DELTA.L/L) over the strip width as a characteristic variable for the strip planeness. Regulation of the strip tensile stress is effected by installations for cooling and/or lubrication and/or bending and/or pivoting of the rolls. Measuring units (6) for measuring the position of the strip edges (7, 8) with respect to the planeness measuring roller (5) and detecting the thus-given overlapping of the measuring disks (4), located in the zone of the strip edges (7, 8), of the measuring roller (3), by the strip (1) are arranged on both sides of the traveling strip, for an exact determination of the strip tensile stress in the marginal zones of the strip (1).

Device for detecting and regulating the planeness of strip-shaped rolled

Primary components of the conveyor for introducing the thin strip material (2), wound into a coil (1), into the roll nip formed by the work rolls (4, 5) of a four-high rolling mill (3) are a coil cart (6) and a propelling device (7) with a clamping device (8) for seizing the strip feed end (9) of the rolling strip (2). Between a readying station (10) and an unwinding reel (11), a motor-driven coil cart (6) with a hoisting device (14) for lifting and lowering the coil (1) is movable in the strip traveling direction (a) on a track (12). In the readying station (10), backup and pinch rolls (15, 16), adjustable transversely to the strip traveling direction (a), are disposed in opposition on the two longitudinal sides of the coil cart route, for positioning the coil (1) and for threading the strip feed end (9) into a clamping device (8) attached to a transport device (7) with a drive motor, that can be propelled along a longitudinal side of the coil cart route. A clamping device (8) for seizing the strip feed end (9) at the coil (1) is attached to the propelling device (7); this clamping device can be pivoted about a pivot axis (19--19) extending transversely to the strip traveling direction (a) from a receiving position (I) in the range of action of an operator (27) by way of an intermediate position (II) over the coil (1) and a waiting position (III) into a position (IV) for transferring the strip feed end (9) to an introducing device (20) arranged upstream of the rolling mill (3), and vice versa.
