In an aspect, the present disclosure includes a method, apparatus, and computer readable medium for wireless communications for establishing, by a user equipment (UE), a first time period to evaluate one or more quality parameters of one or more reference signals, wherein the first time period is based on at least one of a number of panels of the UE or a number of beams that the UE monitors simultaneously; determining, by the UE, a quality parameter of a beam or a cell based on the one or more quality parameters of the one or more reference signals; and determining, by the UE, whether the one or more quality parameters of the one or more reference signals exceeds a quality threshold.

Evaluation period in multi-panel user equipment

To reduce power consumption, a user equipment (UE) may trigger a microsleep in a subframe when a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) does not include a downlink grant. However, because the microsleep depends on the PDCCH not including a downlink grant, the UE cannot trigger the microsleep until after the PDCCH is decoded. Accordingly, in some aspects, a UE may enable an aggressive extra microsleep in which a microsleep duration may be increased by reducing a PDCCH decode time. For example, a UE may use a stale channel estimate and noise estimate from a previous subframe to perform PDCCH demapping when conditions related to a PDCCH block error rate are satisfied. In this way, removing channel estimation and noise estimation from a PDCCH demapping path may reduce the PDCCH decode time, whereby the UE may trigger a microsleep sooner to increase a sleep ratio and thereby increase power savings.

In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive a configuration that indicates a channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) Layer 3 (L3) signal corresponding to a first cell. The UE may select, based at least in part on an angle of arrival (AoA) difference between a first AoA and a second AoA, a UE reception (Rx) beam for receiving the CSI-RS L3 signal, wherein the first AoA is associated with the CSI-RS L3 signal, and wherein the second AoA is associated with a communication corresponding to a second cell. Mitigating receive time difference when using a single beam in inter-band carrier aggregation

A configuration to enable a UE to switch beams of respective CCs based on certain factors (e.g., RTD or TCI states), and not switch the beams simultaneously. The apparatus receives, from a base station, a transmission including an indication to change at least one of a TCI state for multiple CCs, a spatial relation for the multiple CCs, or a PL RS for the multiple CCs. The apparatus switches beams in response to the transmission, where timing of the switching is based on a grouping of the multiple CCs.

Procedural delays and scheduling restriction based on component carrier groups

Secondary cell beam failure detection evaluation period during inter-band carrier aggregation

A wireless communication network includes a user equipment (UE) to receive a set of instructions, from a base station, to perform a simultaneous change of a set of current bandwidth parts (BWPs) to a set of new BWPs in a set of cells. The set of instructions schedules set of slots for the UE to receive and/or transmit a set of downlink and/or uplink signals via the set of new BWPs, respectively. The UE also determines a delay associated with performing the simultaneous change of the set of current BWPs to the set of new BWPs, respectively, and determines whether it is able to receive and/or transmit the set of downlink and/or uplink signals via the set of new BWPs in the set of slots satisfying the delay, respectively. A base station is also included to communicate with the UE to effectuate the aforementioned operation.

Evaluation period in NR-U networks

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive a configuration for a cell from a base station. In some examples, the cell may be deactivated and the base station may configure the cell with one or more base station beams. The UE may receive beam management resources for performing beam management based on the configured base station beams. In some examples, the beam management resources include resources for transmitting or receiving one or more reports indicating a quality of the configured base station beams. The UE may then perform the beam management, while the cell is deactivated, to track one or more UE beams corresponding to the configured base station beams.

A user equipment (UE) may monitor multiple beam pair links (BPLs) including a first BPL currently used by the UE to communicate with a network node (e.g., a base station), and a second BPL. The first BPL comprises a first network beam and a first UE beam, and the second BPL comprises a second network beam and a second UE beam. The UE may decide to switch beams from using the first BPL to using the second BPL based on signaling from the network node or autonomously. When the beam switch is made, the UE switches uplink (UL) transmission from over the first UE beam to over the second UE beam. After the beam switch is made, the UE transmits in the UL over the second UE beam using UL timing adjusted based on the first and second propagation delays.

Uplink timing compensation

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for adjustment of an uplink timing at a user equipment (UE) based on switching a beamformed transmission beam used for communications between the UE and a base station. The UE and base station may establish a connection via a first beamformed transmission beam and an uplink timing of the first beamformed transmission beam may be determined. A timing difference between the first beamformed transmission beam and a second beamformed transmission beam may be identified and, in the event that communications are switched from the first beamformed transmission beam to the second beamformed transmission beam, the uplink timing may be adjusted based at least in part on the timing difference. Such uplink timing adjustment may be made autonomously at the UE, and may be made irrespective of a magnitude of the adjustment.

Uplink timing adjustment in beamformed wireless communications

Aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for the UE to minimize the need to expend resources in conducting signal measurements for SCell by limiting the number of beams that may be scanned and reported back to the network. For example, in instances when the UE has been configured with an active transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state by the network, the UE may be configured to communicate on a limited set of beams (e.g., one beam for transmission (Tx) and another for receiver (Rx)). As such, the UE, during the periodic measurements, may limit the signal measurements to a limited set of beams from all available beams in order to conserve resources based on a determination that the UE is configured with TCI state.
