Flexible packages, transdermal drug delivery devices, and methods for fabricating packages are provided. An exemplary flexible package includes a chemical and moisture resistant layer formed from poly(chlorotrifluoroethylene-co-vinylidene fluoride) ('P(CTFE-co-VDF)') copolymer. Further, the exemplary flexible package includes a substance to be delivered. The substance is applied to or enclosed by the chemical and moisture resistant layer.

Backsheets for photovoltaic modules using infrared reflective pigments

A film layer and a method of forming a film layer are provided herein. The film layer includes a first polymer and a second polymer. The first polymer includes the reaction product of chlorotrifluoroethene and vinylidene fluoride utilized in the first polymer in an amount of at least 4 wt. %. The second polymer includes the reaction product of chlorotrifluoroethene and optionally, vinylidene fluoride utilized in the second polymer in an amount of less than 4 wt. %. A multilayer film and a method of forming a multilayer film are also provided herein. In an embodiment, a multilayer film includes a first film layer and a second film layer adjacent and sealed to the first film layer. At least one of the first film layer or the second film layer includes the first polymer and the second polymer.

A non-asphaltic roofing underlayment that is breathable, water resistant and skid-resistant is disclosed. The non-asphaltic roofing underlayment includes a woven or non-woven substrate in which at least one surface thereof includes a breathable thermoplastic film disposed thereon. The breathable thermoplastic film imparts water-resistant to the substrate as well as maintains the breathability of the substrate.

An impact resistant roofing shingle which includes an asphalt coated substrate whose unexposed surface is laminated to an organic film. A process of forming that shingle includes the step of applying an organic film, by spraying a latex, by applying a rubber polymer modified asphalt, by compressing a plastic film having a higher melting or decomposition temperature than the melting point of the asphalt coating or by applying an adhesive to which a plastic film is applied to the unexposed surface of the asphalt coated substrate.

Impact resistant roofing shingles and process of making same

A method for preparing a roofing membrane, and a membrane, having significantly less adhesive while retaining the same sealing properties. The reduction in the amount of adhesive significantly decreases the cost of raw materials needed for manufacturing the membrane and thus reduces the overall cost of the membrane itself.

An asphalt-based nanocomposite useful as a coating for various applications including building materials products, such as shingles, is provided. The asphalt-based nanocomposites are particle-filled matrices that include an asphalt flux or derivate thereof and a layered clay mineral in an amount ranging from about 1 to about 15 weight %. Coated articles such as shingles including the asphalt-based nanocomposite are also disclosed as well as various methods of preparing the asphalt-based nanocomposite.

Methods of improving the freeze-thaw durability of masonry units are also disclosed.
