A method and device for creating a distribution of unsteady suction, the device may include ejectors; and a fluidic oscillator; wherein the fluidic oscillator may be configured to switch a first flow of fluid, in a cyclic manner, between the ejectors; wherein the ejectors may be fluidly coupled to the fluidic oscillator; and wherein each one of the ejectors may be configured to create pulsed suction through at least one first aperture, and (b) pulsed ejection through at least one second aperture.

An active separation control system, comprising a fluidic oscillatory actuator having an ejector member, an oscillator member, and a joining channel between said oscillator member and said ejector member, all mounted on at least one flexible member, said fluidic oscillatory actuator being mountable on a rotatable door of a vehicle such that said flexible member assumes a different shape when said door is closed than when said door is open, wherein said joining channel is also flexible to assume a shape of said flexible member.

Synchronization of fluidic actuators

A rotor which comprises at least one blade and at least one fluid routing device that is mechanically connected to one of the blades so that a fluid inlet thereof is placed in a lateral edge of the blade. The fluid routing device has a continuous channel with an inlet facing the opposite direction of rotation of the blades and an outlet. The continuous channel is sized and shaped to conduct fluid passing via the inlet. The fluid routing device includes a flow directing element that is mechanically connected to the outlet so as to direct the conducted fluid to adjust fluid flow in or on the mechanically connected blade.

Apparatus and method for oscillating fluid jets

A method and mechanism of producing a suction and periodic excitation flow. The method includes providing fluid flow from jet port with diameter dl at a controlled input pressure (Pin), directing the flow to a conduit with diameter d2, &#x3e;d1, allowing additional fluid to join the flow through suction slot(s) to create an amplified flow in the conduit, further directing the amplified flow in a first direction by applying a transverse pressure differential, further redirecting the amplified flow in another direction by modifying an angle by which the transverse pressure differential is applied and iteratively repeating the further directing and further redirecting so that the amplified flow oscillates between the directions. The suction and periodic excitation flows may be employed, for example, to effectively control boundary layer separation. A mechanism for automated performance of the method is also disclosed.

A thrust force from the oscillatory momentum generator is directed outwards over the wing causing a lift-generating air flow over a wing surface.
