A method and a system are provided for use in a satellite communications network in which broadcasting services are provided to a mobile terminal. A novel digital baseband beam forming system is disclosed including a plurality of digital baseband beam forming channels configured and operable for connecting via channel ports to a plurality of antenna channels associated with respective antenna elements for at least one of transmitting and receiving through the plurality of antenna elements one or more waveform signals encoding data streams. The digital baseband beam forming channels are configured and operable to apply at least one of phase and time delays of selective magnitudes to baseband signals associated with data streams encoding the waveform signals transmitted and/or received by the plurality of antenna elements, thereby beamforming said waveform signals to produce, by said waveforms, one or more data encoded beams associated with respective directions of propagation and encoding said data streams respectively. The digital baseband beam forming system may be implemented in chip (e.g. Silicon chip) and may be configured and operable for constructing scalable array comprising a plurality of such beamforming chips connectable to a respective group of antenna elements of an antenna array for carrying out at least one of transmitting and receiving beam formed waveform signals by the respective group of antenna elements.

Method and system of calibrating antenna array communication are disclosed. A method includes, in a transceiver (), receiving from a repeater () a received signal, which includes a desired signal for reception and an undesired replica of a transmitted signal that was transmitted from the transceiver and retransmitted by the repeater. A local copy of the transmitted signal is generated in the transceiver. A filter response that, when applied to the transmitted signal before transmission, compensates for a difference in spectral response between the local copy and the undesired replica, is estimated in the transceiver. The undesired replica of the transmitted signal, which is received in the received signal, is matched with the local copy of the transmitted signal, by at least pre-filtering the transmitted signal before transmission with the estimated filter response. Interference caused by the undesired replica to the desired signal is canceled, by combining the local copy and the received signal.

Method and system for construction of radio environment model

Three or more nodes, each with a plurality of antennas, communicate by transmitting messages simultaneously to each other. One of the nodes transmits two messages to two different destination nodes using different sets of its antennas. A receiving node receives at least two of the messages as a received signal, and uses a spatial demultiplexing algorithm such as VBLAST to extract from the received signal at least one message for which the receiving node is a destination node. Before the messages are transmitted, it is decided how many of its antennas each node is allowed to use to transmit each of its messages. For that purpose, the nodes exchange RTSs (Request To Send messages) and CTSs (Clear To Send messages). Collisions among the nodes are resolved. A transmission power and a route are selected for each message.

Antenna division multiple access

A cellular system, in which frequency channels are allocated among transceivers which transmit to sectors of a cell, in which adjacent frequencies do not appear in adjacent sectors within the cell. A series of consecutive frequency channels is allocated to these transceivers, sequentially and alternately between opposing pairs of vertical sectors. Allocation is started from a first pair, and continued, each time, to the next pair which is adjacent to its preceding pair in clockwise or counterclockwise direction. Optionally, at least one frequency channel from the series of frequency channels is skipped, each time before continuing to allocate frequency channels to the next pair. By doing so, adjacent frequency channels are not allocated to adjacent sectors, and adjacent frequency channels do not appear in adjacent sectors even after moving allocated frequency channels from a sector to each of its adjacent sectors.
