A method of operating a mesh network is disclosed (FIG.). The method includes receiving a data frame () having a header with plural addresses (FIG.) and determining that the data frame is not from an access point or a leaf node () of the mesh network. A next recipient address of the plural addresses is removed () when the next recipient is a final destination. The next recipient address is set () when the next recipient of the data frame is not a final destination. The data frame is transmitted () to the next recipient.

A method of operating a node of a network is disclosed. The method includes receiving a data frame having a header with plural addresses. The node determines if a first address of the plural addresses is an address of a descendant of the node and if a second address of the plural addresses is a parent address of the node. If so, the node changes a second address of the plural addresses to its own address in response to the step of determining. The node then transmits the data frame to at least one descendant of the node.

A connectivity device includes a microcontroller, a network interface coupled to the microcontroller, and a non-transitory storage device coupled to the microcontroller. The non-transitory storage device includes a token usable for authentication and including executable code. The token includes a unique device identifier (UDID) that uniquely identifies the authentication device and a private key. Methods and apparatus to locate a wireless device are described. A disclosed example method includes transmitting a request location message from a first wireless station to a second wireless station to determine a geographic location of a third wireless station, receiving a response location message at the first wireless station from the second wireless station identifying the geographic location of the third wireless station, wherein the second wireless station stores the geographic location of the third wireless station, determining a path from the first wireless station to a range of the third wireless station based on the received geographic location of the third wireless station, moving along a portion of the path with the first wireless station to the range of the third wireless station, and transmitting an association message from the first wireless station to the third wireless station to communicably couple the first wireless station to the third wireless station.

Methods and apparatus to locate a wireless device

Methods and apparatus to manage power consumption in wireless devices are disclosed. A disclosed example apparatus comprises performing a first received signal strength indicator (RSSI) scan to determine a beacon interval and a first beacon time for a wireless channel, calculating a second beacon time for the wireless channel based on the beacon interval and the first beacon time, and performing a second RSSI scan for the wireless channel during a time interval that includes the calculated second beacon time. In some examples, the wireless channel is a wireless channel that was previously identified as active, is a wireless channel that previously had the highest received power level, and/or is selected from a list of popular or frequently used channels. Additionally or alternatively, when a wireless channel with sufficient signal level is identified, scanning for additional channels is not performed.
