A network node includes a pushbutton to provide a button-press event and a pairer to receive the button-press event while not being in a secure domain. In response to the button-press, the pairer alternates between acting as an endpoint node and acting as a temporary domain master, until pairing is completed. In an alternative embodiment, the node includes a multi-pairer to receive the button press event and, in response, to open a pairing window, to become a domain master of a secure network and to join more than one other network node receiving a button press event to the secure network until the pairing window closes.

Domain establishment method

Domain establishment, registration and resignation via a push button mechanism

A network node in a resource reservation network includes a data receiver, a transmitter and a timing adjustment requester. The data receiver receives fixed size application protocol data units (APDUs) from an application at fixed intervals. The transmitter transmits data from the network node to the network within transmission opportunities (TXOPs) associated with a constant data service flow for the application specified associated with the application and the network node in a media access plan (MAP) generated by a network scheduler. The timing adjustment requester requests adjustments of the network scheduler to the timing of TXOPs associated with the constant data service flow in order to minimize a delay between the arrival of the APDUs and their transmittal to the network.

Allocation adjustment in network domains

A method for multicast transmissions between a source node and a client node includes the source node generating a multicast stream identifier to uniquely identify the multicast stream, and the source node establishing a path between the source node and the client node for a specified the multicast stream, each node in the path using unicast routing tables in order to identify a next node on the path during path establishment, and the source node transmitting messages of the specified multicast stream along the path. Network nodes implement the method.

Relaying of multicast transmissions

A mechanism and protocol are provided in a digital communication system having a plurality of nodes in a shared media domain in order to establish a tunneled service flow between an originating node and a hidden endpoint node via at least one relay node by using a tunnel mechanism to enforce the service flow requirement for Quality Of Service required parameters wherein a domain master determines service flow via relay nodes between the originating node and the hidden endpoint node, calculates needed bandwidth resources and reserves the needed bandwidth resources in order to later allocate them to support the service flows required by Quality of Service parameters embodying the tunneled service flow. Procedures are also provided for termination of a tunneled service flow by an application entity or by the originating node or by the domain master.

Method for establishing and terminating service flow via relay nodes using tunnel mechanism

A method of generating a transmission schedule for a network device of a home network includes ensuring that strongly interfering nodes of different domains do not transmit simultaneously while enabling other non interfering nodes of the different domains to transmit simultaneously. A domain master for a home network includes a receiver and a scheduler. The receiver receives at least one transmission from at least one node of its domain indicating at least one node of at least one neighboring domain whose transmissions are interfering. The scheduler schedules transmissions of said nodes of its domain in coordination with a domain master of said neighboring domain according to inter-domain node interference.

Home network domain master

A method for routing communications on a network node in a communications network includes: updating a central domain master regarding changes detected in topology, receiving a routing plan from the central domain master, where the routing plan is calculated at least in accordance with the changes, and transmitting data as necessary in accordance with the routing plan. A method implementable on a central domain master for routing communications between network nodes in a communications network includes receiving transmissions regarding changes detected in topology from the network nodes, calculating a routing plan based on at least the transmissions, and distributing the routing plan to the network nodes, where the central domain server is one of the network nodes.

Routing and topology management

A method for carrying out a handover procedure, following which a mobile terminal (MS) currently in communication with a first base station (BS), will communicate via a second BS. The method includes upon initiating a handover procedure, determining that the MS will receive all future Internet Protocol (IP) packets via the second base station, following this determination and prior to establishing a connection between the MS and the second BS, forwarding all IP packets being addressed to the MS to the second BS, and buffering the received IP packets thereat, and upon establishing a connection between the MS and the second BS, forwarding the IP packets that were buffered at the second BS to the MS, wherein the buffered IP packets are delivered to the MS before delivering any packets addressed thereto along a new path extending to the second BS which does not include the first BS.

Transfer of communication sessions between base stations in wireless networks

A method and devices are provided to enable continuing a communication session currently carried by a mobile subscriber station (MSS) while switching from a first base station to a second base station. During the communication session that is being held with the MSS, a first Internet Protocol (IP) datagram is selected from among a plurality of IP datagrams associated with that communication session and received at a network gateway adapted to convey IP traffic received from the MSS. Following that selection and prior to establishing a connection between the mobile subscriber terminal and the second base station, IP datagrams that will be received at that network gateway after that first IP datagram had been received and which are addressed to the MSS, are backed up. Upon establishing a connection between the MSS and the second base station, the IP datagrams that were backed up are forwarded to the MSS, and all further IP datagrams which are addressed to the MSS and received at that network gateway after establishing the connection between the MSS and the second base station, will be forwarded to the MSS through the second base station.
