Systems and methods are provided to make content items, already available on one resource, also available through another, such as through a new location or resource. The content items may be, e.g., videos uploaded by a user or other content. The systems and methods employ a streamlined interface for convenience to the user. In one example, a user of a computer system views a video segment through a first website and re-posts the video segment to a second website by entering a single command or clicking a single button. The websites coordinate the re-posting using credentials previously or contemporaneously entered by the user. Moreover, a content item may be automatically prepared for re-posting on the target website using previously-entered user selections. Playback software from a source website may be posted to a target website to allow access of the content item at the source website.

System and method for making a content item, resident or accessible on one resource, available through another

A system and method are provided that allow the obtaining, categorization, discovery, and navigation of content, in particular video content. The system may be operable for a user, for a set of people authorized by the user, or for anyone with an Internet connection. The system employs a desktop software application, an Internet file sharing service, or a combination of both. The system includes an integrated content detector, such as a video camera, with an upload component and a geographic location detector. In use, for example, a user may view a map indicating the locations where video clips were recorded by the user's camera. Any video can then be watched, for example, in a window overlaid on the map, by selecting the same. In one example, a trip may be reconstructed on a map and videos of different locations can be viewed by interacting with the map and map overlays.

System and method for obtaining and sharing content associated with geographic information

A method for use in providing content includes hosting a network site on a computer network, displaying on the network site links to one or more videos, and displaying on the network site at least an on-demand preview of a first video in response to a corresponding one of the links being selected. Systems are provided to enable users of a streaming media playback system to access play-lists generated automatically based on input of a plurality of users regarding previously played media resources, and to provide user input regarding the media resources of the play-lists. The user input regarding media resources may be received from a plurality of users using a plurality of playback interfaces executing on a plurality of internet enabled multimedia computing platforms. A rating component determines rating information from the user inputs provided by the plurality of users and modifies the rating information in an organizational data structure that describes rating information for the media resources. The system further includes a play-list fenerator adapted to generate and store or dynamically generate at least one play-list at least based on the rating information in the organizational data structure.

Systems are provided to enable users of a streaming media playback system to share playlists. A user can select a first play-list corresponding to a play-list identifier and can use the messaging component executable from a first playback interface to send a message to a second user that allows the second user to playback the selected play-list. The play-list identifier may be packaged with arguments or other coding. The system further includes a streaming media clips rating system that includes a database management component that maintains an organizational data structure describing rating information for media resources, and a dynamic playlist generator adapted to automatically and dynamically generate at least one play-list for a user based on rating information in the organizational data structure comprises identifiers of one or more media resources that have similar attributes to one or more media resources that have received a positive rating selection from a user.

A method is provided for playing back media from a network. The method includes receiving a search criteria from a network enabled device. The method further includes accessing a database comprising a plurality of network addresses, where the database associates each address with one or more classes of information. The addresses in the database each access a media network resource. The method further includes selecting at least one address in the database using the search criteria, and signaling the selected address to the network enabled device. The method also includes controlling the network enabled device so as to automatically access and play back the media resource of the selected address.

The method and system also includes programmatically directing the terminal to access a second network site in the plurality of network sites, and causing the media playback component on the terminal to automatically load a second media web resource located at the second network site to playback a second media.
