Techniques are provided for anonymizing data in a data stream. In various embodiments, data in a data stream is anonymized by obtaining a partitioning of a space into a plurality of regions based on previously obtained data elements associated with the space; receiving a data stream comprising a plurality of newly obtained data elements associated with the space, each comprising an identifying portion and an associated sensitive portion; assigning each of the plurality of newly obtained data elements to one of the plurality of regions based on the identifying portion; determining if a full buffer criterion is satisfied for a buffer that stores at least a portion of the plurality of newly obtained data elements; and selecting one of the plurality of regions having a largest number of the newly obtained data elements and recording the associated sensitive portions of the newly obtained data elements in the selected one of the plurality of regions to a non-volatile storage medium on the condition that the full buffer criterion is satisfied.

Anonymization of identifying portions of streaming data

A data anonymization system provides role-based anonymization for data requesters. The system applies a base anonymization function to subscriber data related to at least one subscriber of a service provider to produce base anonymized subscriber data. Upon receiving a request for the subscriber data from a data requester, a role assigned to that data requester is determined to identify a custom anonymization function to be applied to the subscriber data in order to produce custom anonymized subscriber data for the data requester.

Role-based anonymization

A unique tool, i.e., 'VeriWeb', is employed to automatically discover and systematically explore Web-site execution paths that can be followed by a user in a Web application. Unlike traditional spiders (or crawlers) that are limited to the exploration of static links, VeriWeb can navigate automatically through dynamic components of Web sites, including form submissions and execution of client-side scripts. Whenever examining a new Web page, the system determines all possible actions a user might perform&#x2014;be it a link, via a button with a JavaScript handler, or via form submission&#x2014;and can execute them in a systematic way. In order to systematically test different paths in a Web site, VeriWeb addresses two critical problems: systematic Web site exploration and automatically filling out forms.
