A Storage Area Network (SAN) access includes a first aggregated switch device that is coupled to a host device, a Local Area Network (LAN), and a SAN, and a second aggregated switch device that is coupled to the host device, the LAN, and the SAN. The second aggregated switch device is connected to the first aggregated switch device via an Inter-Chassis Link (ICL). The second aggregated switch device detect that the ICL has become unavailable and, in response, prevents Internet Protocol traffic between the host device and the LAN while transmitting storage traffic between the host device and the SAN.

Unavailable inter-chassis link storage area network access system

In a Fibre channel (FC) networking system, a first FC networking device includes a first Ethernet switch processor and a first FC PHY converter that is communicatively coupled to the first Ethernet switch processor via a first plurality of Ethernet links, where the first plurality of Ethernet links is grouped as a first Ethernet aggregation interface. A second FC networking device is communicatively coupled to the first FC networking device via a plurality of FC links, where each Ethernet link of the first plurality of Ethernet links is mapped to a corresponding FC link of the plurality of FC links. The first FC networking device is configured to: generate only one FLOGI for a FC trunk associated with the first Ethernet aggregation interface; and hash the FLOGI among the first plurality of Ethernet links so as to the second FC networking device via the first Ethernet aggregation interface.

Trunk management in simulated Fibre channel trunking system environment

A FC networking system includes a first FC networking device that is coupled to a FC storage system. A second FC networking device is coupled to a server device and includes a first FC PHY converter that is coupled to the first FC networking device via a first and a second FC link. The second FC networking device also includes an Ethernet switch processor that is coupled to the first FC PHY converter via a plurality of Ethernet links. The Ethernet links include a first Ethernet link that is mapped to the second FC link and a second Ethernet link that is mapped to the third FC link. The second FC networking device groups the first Ethernet link with the second Ethernet link to provide an aggregated interface, and load balances FCoE traffic between the first Ethernet link and the second Ethernet link.

A stack link fault response system includes a connected device, a first networking device, and a second networking device that is coupled to the connected device by first connected device link(s), and to the first networking device by stack links. The second networking device uses the stack links to transmit connected device communications received through the first connected device link(s) from the connected device. When the second networking device determines that a subset of the stack links are unavailable to transmit communications while at least one of the stack links is available to transmit communications, it performs a stack link fault response action that is configured to prevent the connected device from sending at least a portion of the connected device communications through the first connected device link(s) to the second networking device.

A feedback-based ECMP packet routing system includes a first node having a first node ECMP link group with first node ECMP links. The first node provides, in data packets forwarded through the first node ECMP links, first node ECMP feedback tag information including a first node identifier, a first node ECMP link group identifier, and a first node ECMP link identifier identifying the first node ECMP link used to forward the data packet. A second node receives a data packet from the first node via the first node ECMP link, stores its first node ECMP feedback tag information, and forwards the data packet through the second node link to the third node. When the link utilization of the second node link reaches a threshold, the ECMP feedback tag information is used to generate and send a feedback packet that causes the first node to adjust its ECMP routing parameters.

Various embodiments of the invention provide systems, devices, and methods of configuring and controlling the operation of fallback links within a network. In certain embodiments, this is accomplished by selecting an operationally active port and internally configuring it to be part of an uplink LAG to achieve minimal L2 connectivity. Compared with existing designs, the presented invention has reduced delay time, minimal impact on network traffic, increased fallback bandwidth, faster convergence, and prevents link flaps of downstream server ports. In line with the IOA's plug- and play philosophy, no administrator intervention or reprogramming of VLANs is required in selecting fallback links.
