An apparatus for safety collaboration in computer-assisted or autonomous driving (CA/AD) vehicles includes an input interface to obtain sensor data from one or more sensors of a CA/AD vehicle, an output interface, and an analyzer coupled to the input and output interfaces to process the sensor data to identify an emergency condition of the CA/AD vehicle, and in response to the identified emergency condition, cause a communication interface of the CA/AD vehicle, via the output interface, to broadcast a request for assistance to be received by one or more nearby CA/AD vehicles. The apparatus may be disposed in the CA/AD vehicle.

Apparatus and method for safety improvement by collaborative autonomous vehicles

This disclosure relates to offloading processing intensive tasks in communication protocol specific operations off the device, e.g. to another network node connected to the device via a network. Such tasks may for example include flow control, segmentation/desegmentation, and/or error control. As part of error control, protocols of the transport protocol layer of the OSI protocol stack may include checksum calculation to ensure reliability of the (payload) data. The calculation of checksums may be processing intensive. For this reason, example client nodes that realize the offloading of processing intensive tasks in communication protocol specific operations to another network node may not utilize any transport layer protocol at all, but rely on flow control and error control implemented in most modern data link layer protocols (Layer 2 of the OSI protocol stack). Accordingly, the processing intensive tasks can be 'shifted' from the client device to another device.

The wireless base station can provide a wireless network. Furthermore, the mobile wireless extended can navigate within an environment to extend the wireless network provided by the wireless base station.

In embodiments, an apparatus for safety collaboration in autonomous or semi-autonomous vehicles may include an input interface to obtain sensor data from one or more sensors of a computer-assisted or autonomous driving (CA/AD) vehicle, an output interface, and an analyzer coupled to the input and output interfaces to process the sensor data to identify an emergency condition of the CA/AD vehicle, and in response to the identified emergency condition, cause a communication interface of the CA/AD vehicle, via the output interface, to broadcast a request for assistance to be received by one or more nearby CA/AD vehicles. In embodiments, the apparatus may be disposed in the CA/AD vehicle.

A vehicle for variably sized transportation may include a vehicle basis and exterior elements coupled to the vehicle basis. At least some exterior elements may be collapsible or movably coupled to the vehicle basis at a first set of positions or a first set of extended or collapsed states to form a first operational configuration, or at a second set of positions or a second set of extended or collapsed states to form a second operational configuration. The first or second operational configuration may provide for a first or second shadow and a first or second passenger or cargo space for the vehicle. The first and second shadows and the first and second passenger or cargo spaces may differ in at least their longitudinal dimensions or in latitudinal dimensions. Other embodiments may also be described and claimed.

Vehicles for variably sized transportation

Techniques for wirelessly charging small power receiving units are disclosed. An example power receiving unit includes a transportation mechanism to enable the power receiving unit to move and a wireless communication system that enables the power receiving unit to communicate with a plurality of other power receiving units. The power receiving unit is a master unit and the other power receiving units are nodes that take commands from the master unit. The power receiving unit also includes a controller to command the nodes to form a composite receive coil over a power transmitting unit and communicate with the power transmitting unit to start a charging session.

Charging miniature devices

A system and method for providing arrays of distributed recording devices supporting black box data retention on transports are disclosed. A particular embodiment includes: a main black box data retention device on a transport for recording transport data including operational and status data of the transport while in operation, the main black box data retention device including a wireless data transmission device; and an array of distributed wireless recording devices on the transport and in wireless data communication with the main black box data retention device, each distributed wireless recording device of the array including: a power supply; a wireless data receiver; a non-volatile memory device; and a control unit to receive the transport data from the main black box data retention device via the wireless data receiver and to store the transport data into the non-volatile memory device.

A system that utilizes data over cable service interface specification (DOCSIS) over passive optical networks is disclosed. An example system includes core system in a passive optical network (PON), comprising a memory; and one or more processors configured to generate a downlink (DL) data stream comprising optical signals, in compliance with a data over cable service interface specification (DOCSIS); and provide the optical signals containing DL data to a network component in the PON over an optical fiber coupled between the core system and the network component. In some embodiments, the core system is located at a head end equipment at the internet service provider's facility. However, in other embodiments, the core system can have a distributed architecture, with a part of the core system located at the internet service provider's facility and a different part of the core system located at a different location.

DOCSIS over passive optical network

Embodiments are generally directed to a virtual sensor system. An embodiment of a mobile device includes a transmitter to transmit data and a receiver to receive data; and one or more sensors. Upon receiving a measurement request from a requestor, the measurement request including one or more measurement requirements including at least one type of sensor measurement, the mobile electronic device is to compare the one or more measurement requirements against at least sensor capabilities of the mobile electronic device. Upon determining that there is a match between the sensor capabilities and the one or more measurement requirements, the mobile electronic device is to perform a measurement with at least one of the one or more sensors to produce sensor data, and transmit a response including the sensor data to the requestor.

Virtual sensor system

Systems and methods may detect a condition with respect to a first device and generate a distress signal if the condition satisfies one or more safety criteria that are relevant to a second device. Additionally, the distress signal may be broadcasted, wherein the distress signal bypasses one or more application controls of the first device and has a transmission range that is restricted to a local area. In one example, one or more local preventive actions may be triggered, via the application control(s), based on the distress signal.

Effective handling of distress signals in an internet of things environment

In an example, a client-server platform identity architecture is disclosed. The platform identity architecture may be used to enable a venue operator to provide online services and to collect telemetry data and metrics while giving end users greater control over privacy. When entering a compatible venue, the user's device generates a signed temporary pseudonymous identity (TPI) in secure hardware or software. Any telemetry uploaded to the venue server includes the signature so that the server can verify that the data are valid. The TPI may have a built-in expiry. The venue server may thus receive useful tracking data during the term of the TPI, while the user is assured that the data are not kept permanently or correlated to personally-identifying information.

Platform identity architecture with a temporary pseudonymous identity

Systems and methods for power distribution allocation are provided. A system may establish a first wireless connection between the system and a first mobile device. The system may receive a first charge request from the first mobile device comprising first mobile device information, and may identify charging system policies based at least in part on the first charge request. The system may determine a first charge program for the first mobile device based at least in part on the first charge request and the one or more charging system policies, where the first charge program comprises a power allocation of the first mobile device with respect to other mobile devices connected to the charging system. The system may wirelessly charge the first mobile device, based at least in part on the first charge program.

Systems and methods for smart wireless charging
