A mechanism is described for facilitating dynamic and efficient pre-launch clipping for partially-obscured images on computing devices. A method of embodiments, as described herein, includes receiving state data relating to an image having partially-obscured regions, where the image is capable of being processed on a graphics processing unit of a computing device, and evaluating the state data, where evaluating includes computation of at least one of visible pixels and invisible pixels of the image. The method may further include selecting the visible pixels to be included in processing of the image, where the invisible pixels are ignored. The method may further include processing the image based on the visible pixels.

Facilitating dynamic and efficient pre-launch clipping for partially-obscured graphics images on computing devices

The present invention is directed to a method, computer program product, and system for performing physics simulations on at least one graphics processor unit (GPU). The method includes the following steps. First, data representing physical attributes associated with at least one mesh are mapped into a plurality of memory arrays to set up of a linear system of equations that governs motion of the at least one mesh depicted in a scene. Then, computations are performed on the data in the plurality of memory arrays using at least one pixel processor to solve the linear system of equations for an instant of time, wherein modified data representing the solution to the linear system of equations for the instant of time are stored in the plurality of memory arrays.

Physical simulations on a graphics processor

An embedded, programmable motion blur system and method is described herein. Embodiments include applying displacement on a vertex level and amplification on a primitive level within a graphics pipeline. Embodiments include receiving a plurality of vertices in a first component of a graphics processing unit (GPU), displacing each of the plurality of vertices, receiving a primitive that includes at least one of the displaced vertices in a second component of the GPU, and transforming the primitive. In one embodiment, transforming comprises at least one of translation, scaling, and rotation. Further included are generating a plurality of primitive samples over a time aperture, and outputting the plurality of primitive samples to further components of the GPU for further processing for display of the scene with motion blur.

A method, system, computer program product, and protocol for digital rendering over a network is described. Rendering resources associated with a project are stored in a project resource pool at a rendering service site, and for each rendering request received from a client site the project resource pool is compared to current rendering resources at the client site. A given rendering resource is uploaded from the client site to the rendering service only if the project resource pool does not contain the current version, thereby conserving bandwidth. In accordance with a preferred embodiment, redundant generation of raw rendering resource files is avoided by only generating those raw rendering resource files not mated with generated rendering resource files. Methods for reducing redundant generation of raw resources are also described, as well as methods for statistically reducing the number of raw resource files required to be uploaded to the rendering service for multi-frame sessions. The preferred embodiments are particularly advantageous for remote rendering services at a different site from the client and connected across the Internet or a Wide Area Network, but may also be applied where the rendering service is co-located with the client site and connected thereto by a Local Area Network (LAN).

Method and system for digital rendering over a network

System and method for collecting customers' images into a kiosk, and transferring images to an image-processing provider for processing. The kiosk includes a computer, a data storage device, an upload port, and an interface for capturing digital images. One method includes accepting image information from a customer into the interface of the kiosk, accepting user-identifier and order information into the kiosk computer, storing a digital representation of the image and associated user-identifier and order information for each customer into a data structure, and sending the data structure to the image-processing provider via the upload port connected to a communication medium such as the internet. Some embodiments also include accepting credit-card payment information, displaying to the customer at least one image from the image information and/or a plurality of thumbnail images from the image information, and/or printing a receipt and/or a printout of thumbnail images from the image information. Optionally, the user specifies a modification to be made to the image information and/or specifies a plurality of delivery addresses. Optionally, the kiosk includes optical scanning of film or prints to generate digital images, transferring image data directly from a digital camera, transferring image data directly from a storage medium, and/or transferring image data into a kiosk data port. Some embodiments include accepting a container of undeveloped film into the kiosk, processing the undeveloped film in the kiosk, and optically scanning the developed film to generate digital representations of the developed film.

The present invention provides a system and a method for transferring digital images between a source terminal and a repository system interconnected by a communications medium. For example, in some embodiments, the communications medium includes the internet. In other embodiments, the medium includes wireless transmission of data. In yet other embodiments, a private network is used. Another aspect provides a remote film scanning applications programming interface (API). In some embodiments, the API includes a reel control data structure associated with a particular reel of images.
