A toy telephone includes a telephone base enclosure a microphone, a speaker, a memory chip for recording sounds for later retrieval, a microprocessor electrically connected to the memory chip, and at least one button electrically connected to the microprocessor for selecting one of a plurality of segments of the memory chip for recording. The memory chip is configured to produce an output signal the duration of which has a known mathematical relationship to the recording capacity of each of the plurality of segments of the memory chip. The microprocessor is programmed to receive an electrical signal from a button upon depression of the button, to select one of the segments of the memory chip in response to the depression of the button, to measure the duration of the output signal of the memory chip, to determine the recording capacity of the segment of the memory chip based on the duration of the output signal, to initiate recording of sounds received by the microphone into the segment of the memory chip, to terminate recording of the sounds when the recording capacity of the segment of the memory chip as determined by the microprocessor has been fully utilized, and to cause the sounds to be played at a later point in time.

A pinball machine comprising a housing having provisions for translating a ball in play throughout a plurality of locations therein, including at least one rotary spinner and active bar bumper, said housing further including flippers, inactive bumpers and ball traps and channels disposed at strategic locations on a playing field, the rotary spinners and bar bumpers being operably connected to a drive system which is operated off a single drive motor and which includes an integral scoring relay which generates a scoring signal in response to a drag torque imparted on the drive system every time a ball makes contact with a rotary spinner or bar bumper, the housing further having a three dimensional figure attached to one end thereof, adapted to move at least a part thereof relative to the housing, the figure including an internal mechanism adapted to move one arm thereof in a generally up and down motion such that it randomly and periodically impacts a trigger within the housing which engages a mechanism for raising part of the housing relative to a support surface to increase the difficulty of play, the figure further including provisions for illuminating part thereof and for displaying the player's score, and an audio speaker for providing a 'speaking' effect in response to different play conditions as well as generating various sound effects.

A doll with an eyeblink mechanism includes an eye with a reciprocatable eyelid, a drive providing intermittent slow rotary motion, and a torsion spring for accumulating such rotary motion, as necessary, and converting each predetermined quantity of such rotary motion into intermittent, relatively rapid reciprocating motion of the eyelid to blink the eye. A safety mechanism precludes overwinding of the torsion spring, e.g., when movement of the eyelid is physically blocked.

A projectile-propelling toy includes a first port and a first propulsion mechanism for propelling a projectile via the first port as well as a second port and a second propulsion mechanism for propelling a projectile via the second port. The first and second propulsion mechanisms are separate and independent, at least one of the first and second propulsion mechanisms being pneumatic. A kit for the toy includes a housing having an engaging element for releasably receiving a first weapon and a cavity for telescopically receiving at least a major portion of a second weapon. A magazine is adapted to be releasably received in functional engagement by each of the first weapon, the second weapon and the housing. One weapon includes a manually-driven pneumatic propulsion mechanism for propelling a projectile, a spring-driven pneumatic propulsion mechanism for propelling a projectile, and a selector for manually selecting which of the pneumatic propulsion mechanisms is operative at a given time.
