A system and method for disabling or enabling automated dispensers based upon data received by a server or a control unit. In one embodiment, the system disables automated dispensers in a room of a medical facility based upon health condition data of a patient resident in the room. In another embodiment, the system enables automated dispensers upon receipt of data identifying user types authorized to use the dispenser that are associated with wearable tags in proximity to the dispensers. In still another embodiment, the system controls the order in which automated dispensers are enabled in order to facilitate compliance with workflow procedures for a facility.

System and method for disabling or enabling automated dispensers

A hand hygiene compliance (HHC) system that, in addition to monitoring hand hygiene, provides messaging and asset tracking capabilities to improve workflow amongst employees working at a facility. In one embodiment, the HHC system includes a control unit that is associated with a hand hygiene dispenser and programmed to enable use of a menu of icons each time the control unit detects use of the hand hygiene dispenser by as individual, wherein the icons allow the individual to, without limitation, communicate, enter, obtain, or update workflow information. More specifically, the menu of icons is displayed on a feedback device associated with the control unit, and users select icons by physically touching the feedback device. Alternatively, the control unit includes a gesture sense system which allows users to select one or more icons via touch-free gestures.

Systems and methods for using a hand hygiene compliance system to improve workflow

A system and method for powering and monitoring use of battery powered automated dispensers is provided. In one embodiment, a pseudo battery assembly comprised of a pseudo battery and a plurality of battery spacers powers and monitors use of an automated hand hygiene dispenser. More specifically, the pseudo battery receives an external power supply from a control unit that is part of a hand hygiene compliance (HHC) system, wherein the pseudo battery is operable to distribute the power to the dispenser and detect use thereof with a sensor. Further, a feedback device associated with the control unit is operable to display an alarm or notification once the dispenser has been used a predetermined amount of times. In other embodiments, the pseudo battery assembly powers and monitors use of battery powered automated dispensers, such as an automated towel dispenser or an automated gloves dispenser.

System and method for powering and monitoring an automated battery powered dispenser

A system and method for monitoring compliance with a plurality of workflow procedures in a hospital or other health care facility using a hand hygiene compliance system (HHC). A control unit of an HHC gathers data based upon the presence, identification, and movement of a plurality of assets, including persons, equipment, or supplies, each having wearable detectable tags, such as RFID tags, and communicates that data to a local or remote server. The server is programmed to monitor or cause compliance with hospital workflow procedures relevant to the communicated data, such as rounding requirements and proper use of equipment, or may generate alarms or notifications where a workflow procedure has not been followed.

System and method for monitoring hospital workflow compliance with a hand hygiene network

Systems, devices, and computer readable media for optimizing serial communication networks provide an intelligent network gateway through which network data flows. Systems and devices monitor network requests for data packets supplied by slave computing devices, examine the supplied data packets, and copy the supplied data packets to a memory device. The supplied data packets are delivered to a first requesting network device and when an additional network request for the data packets is made by a second requesting network device the data packets are delivered from the memory device to the second requester in response to the additional network request without interrupting the slave computing device to redundantly supply the data packet. Polling by multiple requester devices for redundant data from slave computing devices is avoided. Communication response times are improved, data caching is provided for devices that have no logging memory, and optimum communication settings can be automatically determined.

Intelligent ethernet gateway system and method for optimizing serial communication networks

A method of monitoring the electrical power in multiple branch circuits of an AC electrical power distribution system comprises monitoring at least one voltage common to said multiple branch circuits using a main meter unit, monitoring currents of the multiple branch circuits using multiple current cards that receive a plurality of current inputs from current transducers in the multiple branch circuits, sampling the monitored voltage in the main meter unit and the monitored currents in the current cards multiple times in each cycle of the AC power signal, determining the magnitudes and angles of spectral components of the sampled current in the current cards, sending data representing the magnitudes and angles of at least selected spectral components from the current cards to the main meter unit, and storing the voltage samples and the magnitudes and angles of at least the selected spectral components in the main meter unit.

High density metering system

A multi-master serial bus that connects multiple utility monitoring devices with multiple remote electronic display units. The display units include an IC microprocessor with an integrated LCD controller for controlling an LCD display and a set of buttons for changing what is displayed on the LCD display. They also include an I/O to IC driver for sending button key presses to the remote monitoring device, which communicates the requested data to be displayed back to the display unit via the multi-master serial bus. Each remote electronic display unit has a unique address assigned to it, and when a user input is detected on the IC bus by the utility monitoring device, the controller in the utility monitoring device sends monitored data to the detected address for display on the remote electronic display unit.

Remote display chain for multiple user interface applications

A three-phase monitoring system for detecting and dynamically correcting wiring errors in an electrical circuit. The system includes a voltage divider circuit and a current transformer circuit connected to three voltage channels and three current channels, respectively. Samples of the voltages and currents are held in respective sample and hold circuits, which are provided to an analog multiplexer. The analog multiplexer is controlled by a processor, and is coupled to gain and filter circuitry, sample and hold circuitry, and to an analog-to-digital converter (ADC). The ADC is connected to the processor, which analyzes the power factor for a given voltage/current pair. If the power factor is outside of an expected range, the processor dynamically changes the addresses assigned to the channels such that the data arrives in the processor in an expected sequence.

Method for detecting and correcting wiring errors in power monitoring applications

A load estimation algorithm for automatically estimating power consumed by each branch load connected to circuit breakers in a power distribution panel (PDP) without requiring individual current sensing at each branch. The load, estimation algorithm can be operated in a manual mode, remote manual mode, or an agile mode. In manual mode, the user turns off individual circuit breakers in an ordered sequence, and the load estimation algorithm calculates the difference in the power consumption when all loads are connected versus when one load is disconnected to estimate the power consumption of the disconnected load. In the remote manual mode, the circuit breakers are remotely operable, so that load estimation algorithm controls their states through software. In agile mode, the algorithm continuously attempts to estimate power consumption of each load connected to the PDP by comparing present load estimates with previous load estimate and flagging any discrepancies.

Virtual branch load management

A power metering apparatus meters a power signal in a powered system. A low-pass filter receives the power signal and outputs a filtered signal. The filter implements a corner frequency programmable based on a first clocking signal and anti-aliases high frequency components of the power signal. An A/D converter receives the filtered signal and outputs a digital signal. The A/D converter samples the filtered signal according to a system clock based on a second clocking signal. A clocking element generates and outputs each of the first clocking signal and the second clocking signal. The first clocking signal is synchronous with the second clocking signal.
