The present invention provides a glossy finish sandwich composite, comprising face sheet as skin element and a core element; wherein, the skin element is a composite selected from the group consisting of inorganic industrial waste particulates reinforced polymeric composite; fibres reinforced polymeric composite; and fibres and particulate reinforced hybrid polymer composite; wherein, the core element is selected from the group consisting of polyurethane foam and wastes reinforced polymeric material. The present invention also provides a novel process for developing glossy finish high performance hybrid sandwich composite(s). Moreover, the sandwich composite(s) of the present invention are unique materials which have versatile applications in wider spectrum of utility in sustainable manner and address issues on waste management, effective utilisation of renewable resources and agro-wastes.

Process for making a glossy finish sandwich composite

A geo-polymeric concrete and a process for preparing the geo-polymeric concrete is disclosed. The geo-polymeric concrete includes class F fly ash in a range from 10-20 wt %, of the design mix river sand in a range from 25-40 wt % of the design mix, a natural aggregate in a range from 15 to 40 wt % of the design mix, silica fume in a range from 1 to 2 wt % of class F fly ash, an alkaline activator solution and a superplasticizer in a range from 0.5 to 3 wt %. The materials used for preparing the superplasticizer are easily available in the market in abundance at a reasonable cost. The superplasticizer is economically viable and improves the workability of the geo-polymeric concrete. The presence of the superplasticizer does not affect the compressive strength of the geo-polymeric concrete.

Development of alcoholic sucrose-based superplasticizer for geo-polymeric concrete and its process thereof

The present invention deals with development of a novel process for manufacturing moisture resistant glossy finish hybrid green polymeric composites with variable density in range of 0.2-1.68 g/cc, low water/moisture absorption in the range of 0.1-1.3%, tensile strength and tensile modulus in range of 6.5-105 MPa and 250-6850 MPa, respectively and to the best of our knowledge the fabricated hybrid green composites has not yet developed universally using different types of industrial wastes particulates. Moreover, hybrid composites developed using industrial wastes, natural fibres and epoxy/polyester/polyurethane polymers is a unique materials and have multifunctional applications in wider spectrum as an alternative to wood, synthetic wood, wood plastic composites, screen printing sheet, plastic, fibre and glass reinforced polymer products, including tin sheet.

High performance glossy finish green hybrid composites with variable density and an improved process for making thereof

A nanoadsorbent based filter is used for purification of fluoride and arsenic contaminated water. 140-150 g low cost (&#x2dc;10 USD/kg) nanoparticles of gamma alumina of 20-25 mg/g fluoride and 25-30 mg/g arsenic adsorption capacity is incorporated in propylene filter without susceptibility of leaching incorporated nanoparticles in water. The cost of domestic defluoridation device containing low cost nanoalumina incorporated filters/cartridges along with housing, overhead tank, tubing and treated water storage container etc. is of very low cost of around 25 USD/device. The fluoride treatment cost would be &#x3c;0.5 USD/100 lit for 4-5 mg/l fluoride water after 2-3 regenerations while, the arsenic treatment cost using domestic filtration device would be &#x3c;0.25 USD/100 lit for 90-100 &#x3bc;g/l arsenic (III) water. A method incorporates nanoadsorbent in a sediment removal filter candle and provides a household defluoridation device capable of treatment of fluoride and arsenic contaminated ground/drinking water without electricity.

The novel process enables designing of raw materials and processing parameters, enabling synergistic and simultaneous chemical reactions among the various reactants of the design mix of chemical precursor of brine sludge which includes barium sulphate, magnesium hydroxide, calcium carbonate, sodium chloride, silica, aluminum containing compounds necessary for developing highly efficient shielding phases leading to homogenous matrix of shielding materials.

Advanced multi-functional asbestos free thermal insulating material and the process for preparation thereof

Disclosed is a nanostructured p-type copper-selenide as a cost-effective thermoelectric material with a high thermoelectric figure-of-merit. The nanostructured copper-selenide is a cost-effective p-type thermoelectric material having a high figure-of-merit of 2 at 973 K and is synthesized employing high energy ball milling process followed by reaction sintering under pressure at high heating rates using spark plasma sintering of the resulting nanopowders. The sintered copper-selenide shows a density of 99.9% of theoretical density and retains the nanoscale features introduced during ball milling leading to a thermoelectric figure of merit of 2 at 973 K.
