An assembly for a turbocharger can include a turbine housing that defines an exhaust inflow chamber that includes a wastegate valve seat and that defines an exhaust outflow chamber; and a wastegate valve plug that includes a seal surface where, in a closed state, the seal surface seats against the wastegate valve seat and where, in an open state, the wastegate valve plug extends into the exhaust inflow chamber. Various other examples of devices, assemblies, systems, methods, etc., are also disclosed.

Turbine wastegate

A vehicle includes an engine, fraction motor, final drive assembly, battery pack, and a supercapacitor module electrically connected to the battery pack. The vehicle also has first and second clutches and a controller. The clutches have opposite apply states. The first clutch connects an engine driveshaft to the motor to establish a neutral-charging mode. The second clutch connects an output shaft of the motor to the final drive assembly to establish a drive mode. The controller selects between the drive and neutral-charging modes in response to input signals. The drive mode uses energy from the supercapacitor module and battery pack to power the traction motor. The neutral-charging mode uses output torque from the engine to charge the supercapacitor module and battery pack. The clutches may be pneumatically-actuated, and the vehicle may be characterized by an absence of planetary gear sets.

A control system for an engine of a vehicle includes a shift forecasting module that forecasts one of an upshift and a downshift of a manual transmission based on vehicle acceleration, clutch pedal position, acceleration pedal position and brake pedal position. A gear state calculating module determines a current gear state based on a speed of the engine and a speed of the vehicle. A next gear state calculating module determines a next gear state. The next gear state is based on the current gear state and the one of the upshift and downshift. A next engine speed calculating module estimates an estimated engine speed based on the next gear state and the vehicle speed. An engine speed control module adjusts the engine speed based on the estimated engine speed.
