An elevator car has one or more sidewalls () defining an interior space () for accommodating passengers; a roof () including a support frame () and a working platform () which is suspendably connected to the support frame (). The working platform moves between a stowed position, above the interior space, and an operational position, within the interior space. The elevator car also includes a blocking member (), located at the support frame (), and arranged to move between an unblocking position and a blocking position. When the blocking member () is in the blocking position, the blocking member is configured to prevent the working platform () from being moved into the stowed position.

An elevator counterweight assembly () includes a counterweight structure (), at least one safety brake () mounted on the counterweight structure (), and a safety actuation mechanism () including a connection () for a suspension member (). The safety actuation mechanism () is configured to move, relative to the counterweight structure (), between a normal position, and a safety position. In the safety position the safety actuation mechanism () is arranged to actuate the at least one safety brake () and thereby brake the counterweight structure (). Systems and methods for automated elevator component inspection

An elevator car defining an interior space for accommodating passengers and/or cargo, comprising a support frame positioned above the interior space, a working platform moveable between a stowed position, above the interior space, and an operational position, within the interior space and at least one extendable suspension arrangement arranged to suspend the working platform from the support frame. The extendable suspension arrangement includes a connection plate, a first arm member connected at a first end to the support frame and slidably connected to a first connection point of the connection plate and a second arm member connected at another first end to the working platform and slidably connected to a second connection point of the connection plate.

An elevator car is provided and includes a car frame which translates along a guide rail during ascents or descents, a safety disposed along the car frame to selectively engage with the guide rail to selectively permit vertical elevator car movement, an electronic safety actuator (ESA) and a control system. The ESA actuates the safety and includes an ESA body secured to the car frame with horizontal maneuverability and defining a groove through which the guide rail translates during the vertical elevator car movement, a magnetic guide operably disposed within the groove to exert magnetic force on the guide rail and a sensor disposed within the groove to sense horizontal distance between the guide rail and corresponding portions of the ESA body. The control system controls the magnetic guide to exert a magnetic force in accordance with reading of the sensor to maneuver the ESA body horizontally.

Counterweights for elevator systems are described. The counterweights include a frame and a counterweight safety system attached to the frame. The safety system includes a safety brake mounted to an upright of the frame and configured to enable engagement with a guide rail to apply a braking force. A sheave is mounted to the frame and configured to operably connect to tension members. The sheave is configured to move between a first position when under tension and a second position when the tension is lost. A connecting link operably connects the sheave to the safety brake. The connecting link has first and second link members operably connected between the sheave and the safety brake.

Elevator safety actuator systems

Elevator toe guard assemblies are provided. The elevator toe guard assemblies include an elevator car frame, a buffer located within an elevator shaft, and a toe guard mounted to the elevator car frame. The toe guard has a first state being a fully extended state, a second state wherein the toe guard does not contact a pit floor during operation of an elevator car, and a third state wherein at least a portion of the toe guard is moved relative to the elevator car frame during an impact between the buffer and the pit floor.
