An imaging system that forms an image on a receiving medium including a fluid ejector that ejects fluid onto the receiving medium and a controller that controls the fluid ejector to eject the fluid to include a non-white and non-clear fluid or one of at least white and clear W fluid on each pixel on the receiving medium. A substantially single layer of fluid is ejected onto the receiving medium. A method for forming an image on a receiving medium includes ejecting a fluid onto the receiving medium, and controlling the ejection of the fluid to include a non-white and non-clear fluid or one of at least white and clear fluid for each pixel on the receiving medium.

Systems and methods that improve fluid color output by using clear or white fluid

An ink jet printer has a printhead with ink droplet ejecting nozzles that moves in a two dimensional direction across a movable recording medium or intermediate surface. The recording medium or intermediate surface is moved in a first direction with a constant velocity. The printhead is spaced from and is parallel to the recording medium or intermediate surface during the two dimensional movement of the printhead. During the printing process, the printhead is moved concurrently in the first direction at a velocity equal to the velocity of the recording medium or intermediate surface and in a second direction that is perpendicular to the first direction. This two dimensional movement of the printhead causes the ink droplets ejected therefrom to print swaths of information across the recording medium or intermediate surface that are perpendicular to the first direction.

A method of improving automatic document feed of media printed with phase change inks coats the surface of the phase change inks on the media with fine particles. The particles may include PMMA, glass bead, silica particles, crushed glass particles, kaolin clay, micronized PE and PTFE, calcium carbonate powder, hard inks or toner powder. The particles may be applied to the surface of a transfix drum by oil transfer or electrostatically prior to jetting the phase change ink, or in the case of hard inks may be jetted onto the surface of the transfix drum (offset) with the phase change ink or onto the print media (direct) after application of the phase change ink in an overprint printing process. Also the particles may be applied by a pair of finishing rollers after the media has been printed with the phase change inks, either in a direct or offset print process, the finishing roller on the print side being coated with the fine particles.
