A wheel assembly includes: (a) a hub adapted to be mounted for rotation about an axis and defining a housing for enclosing a gear set, the hub having a generally cylindrical outer surface; (b) a ring surrounding the outer surface of the hub; and (c) a generally cylindrical rim surrounding at least a portion of the hub, the rim adapted to carry a tire and having a radially inwardly extending mounting flange. The mounting flange is fastened to the ring.

System and method for providing filtration in a sun pinion bore

A sun pinion cover for an electric motor driven, off-highway vehicle transmission is provided wherein the transmission defines a hub assembly cavity and a transmission opening and wherein the transmission includes a reduction gear set having a low-speed pinion and at least one low-speed planet, wherein the reduction gear set is disposed adjacent the transmission opening. The sun pinion cover includes a cover body which defines a first lubricant port, a second lubricant port and a lubricant conduction channel which communicates the first lubricant port with the second lubricant port, such that when the cover body is attached to the transmission, the first lubricant port is disposed adjacent the low-speed pinion and the low-speed planet and the second lubricant port is disposed adjacent the hub assembly cavity to allow for a lubricant flow between the low-speed pinion, the low-speed planet and the hub assembly cavity.

Sun pinion cover

In an off-highway vehicle having an electric propulsion system which includes a motorized wheel, a traction motor and a transmission for transmitting power from the traction motor to the motorized wheel, wherein the transmission comprises a reduction stage, a low speed sun pinion defining a sun pinion cavity and a thrust washer, wherein the thrust washer includes a first surface portion movably associated with the low speed sun pinion via a thrust washer retainer and wherein the thrust washer is movably associated with the reduction stage via a lubrication plug is provided, wherein the lubrication plug includes a first plug portion having a radially extending portion movably associated with a second surface portion of the thrust washer and a second plug portion having a second plug portion structure which defines a plug cavity having a plug cavity inlet and at least one plug cavity outlet disposed adjacent at least a portion of the thrust washer, wherein the plug cavity inlet is disposed to communicate the sun pinion cavity with the plug cavity and wherein the at least one plug cavity outlet is disposed along at least one radial plane of the second plug portion to communicate the plug cavity with the thrust washer, such that a lubricant flowing through the sun pinion cavity and into the plug cavity inlet is allowed to flow out of the at least one plug cavity outlet such that the lubricant and the thrust washer lubricatingly interact.

Lubrication plug

A tie ring is provided wherein the tie ring includes a tie ring structure defining at least one strap cavity. The tie ring structure includes a tie ring top surface and a tie ring bottom surface, wherein the tie ring top surface defines at least one top surface opening and wherein the tie ring bottom surface defines at least one bottom surface opening, wherein the at least one top surface opening and the at least one bottom surface opening are communicated with the at least one strap cavity.

Tie ring

A centrifugal blower () for an electric-drive vehicle () having three independent air outlets () receiving air from a single impeller (). A first radial airflow () provides cooling air to an alternator () of the vehicle, a second radial airflow () provides cooling air to a control group () of the vehicle, and an axial airflow () provides cooling air to an electric drive motor () of the vehicle. The first and second radial airflows are provided through respective first and second outlets () formed at radially separated locations in a perimeter of the blower housing (). The axial airflow is provided through a generally ring-shaped third outlet () formed in a sidewall () of the housing. An air dam () provides a pressure barrier between the radial and axial airflows proximate a location where the first radial airflow is redirected to flow in a generally axial direction.
