A quenching car from coke ovens that serves to receive a carbonized batch from an oven chamber while standing still and is capable of travel alongside a battery of coke ovens to a point under a quenching tower, includes a coke receptacle which is designed as a rectangular box. The receptacle is equipped with a slanted bottom that slants down toward a coke ramp that lies on a side of the car opposite the battery of coke ovens. A front wall of the receptacle facing the coke ramp, is equipped on its lower portion along its entire length with a flap that swings outwardly and which can be pivoted by means of an operating rod and a first operating device from a position in which it holds the receptacle tightly closed into a position in which it is open by the space of a crack in the area of the low point of the slanting bottom. The dump opening of the receptacle meanwhile remains closed by a inner, grate-like flap lining. A second operating device is also provided that also acts on the operating rod independently of the first device and can open the flap to its full extent with the inner flap lining.

Coke quenching car

The sealing surfaces of a coke oven door are cleaned with high-pressure fluid by a hydraulically operated high-pressure piston pump which displaces either a hot or a cool conveyed media ladened with solid particles such as a coal mass and a fluid for cleansing the sealing surfaces of the coke oven doors and door frames. The pump includes a closed pump cylinder having an inlet and outlet valve for a conveyed medium at both ends of the cylinder and a partition dividing the cylinder. Inlet and outlet valves for hydraulic fluid are located in the cylinder on each side of the partition. An inner double piston is axially movable to and fro with the cylinder and comprises two output piston portions with a piston rod connected to each portion and located between them guided on bearings in the cylinder. A delivery space is formed between the piston portions and each end of the pump cylinder and the respective delivery spaces at each end simultaneously and oppositely decrease and increase during an operation. The hydraulic space is formed between the piston portions at each side of the partition and the hydraulic space also simultaneously and oppositely increase and decrease during operation. The pump is connected to a coke door cleaning apparatus for the purpose of cleaning an annular sealing surface. The apparatus includes a generally rectangular annular sealing surface trackway around the sealing surfaces of the door and a support structure adjacent the sealing surface having a sliding support surface trackway adjacent the door. A sliding support moves over the support surface. A nozzle lance is carried on the support and has an end with a nozzle directed at the sealing surface and an opposite end with a cleaning liquid connection through a hose to the high-pressure piston pump.

Hydraulically operated high-pressure piston pump

A sealing arrangement at coke oven chambers, for gastightly sealing the junction gaps between a transfer means, such as provided on coke guide cars or at the pushing machine and the coke oven, comprises sealing sheets at the oven side, which in operating position, apply against the outside of the chamber opening. The inner space of this transfer means is connected to stationary exhausters, for example. The sealing sheets comprise a plurality of individual segments which, as the transfer means is put in place, are pressed by adjustable springs acting through sliding rods against anchor posts and, at the top of the chamber opening against plates connected between the anchor posts at the top of the chamber.

Sealing arrangement at coke oven chambers

A coke oven handling apparatus, for use with a coke oven having a battery of horizontally arranged side by side coke ovens with a quenching car trackway for a coke quenching car disposed alongside the battery outwardly of a coke cake guide car which is also movable along the ovens of the battery on a guide car trackway, comprises a stationary closed gas exhaust system which has an exhaust connection adjacent the quenching car. The support structure provides a support for a hood and a trackway for the hood adjacent the quenching car trackway and a structure is supported upon and movable along the hood support and trackway structure. The hood structure includes a first hood portion of vertically deep size which is adapted to be positioned adjacent a coke cake guide car in a position to overlie coke being pushed through the guide car into the quenching car. The hook structure also includes at least one additional hood area of shallow depth which is also connectable to the exhaust connection to cover a portion of the quenching car which moves beyond the first hood portion after the initial discharge of coke has been exhausted through the first hood portion. Coke is discharged from a coke oven through the hood structure into a quenching car and the hood structure is connected to a stationary exhaust which drags away the gases and dust. As the car is advanced further additional glowing coke is passed through the first portion of the hood structure and the second portion of the hood structure is connected to the exhaust discharge so that the previously exhausted portion of the coke in the quenching car is further exhausted as it moves along.

Apparatus for evacuating emissions of a coke oven

A coke oven handling apparatus for use with a coke oven having a battery of horizontally arranged side by side coke ovens with a quenching car trackway for a coke quenching car disposed alongside the battery outwardly of a coke cake guide car which is also movable along the ovens of the battery on a guide car trackway comprises a stationary closed gas exhaust system which has an exhaust connection adjacent the quenching car. The support structure provides a support for a hood and a trackway for the hood adjacent the quenching car trackway and a structure is supported upon and movable along the hood support and trackway structure. The hood structure includes a first hood portion of vertically deep size which is adapted to be positioned adjacent a coke cake guide car in a position to overlie coke being pushed through the guide car into the quenching car. The hood structure also includes an at least one additional hood area advantageously one of shallow depth which is also connectable to the exhaust connection to cover a portion of the quenching car which moves beyond the first hood portion after the initial discharge of coke has been exhausted through the first hood portion. The apparatus includes additional controls and ducts connectable to the second hood portion at locations along the length of the car as it advances and with a control device arranged in the passage of the car for actuating these devices as the car is moved so as to sequentially increase the exhaust suction and exhaust area over the quenching car as it is advanced.

Method for evacuating emissions of a coke oven

A coke oven door assembly includes a door body having a plurality of plates vertically disposed in series. Refractory blocks attached to the plates include overlapping side portions in spaced relationship with their adjacent ends. The plates are tiltingly interconnected with each other.
