In an apparatus for checking sheet material a plurality of sensors is arranged along a sensor path along which the sheet material is transported. The sensors each have two components, which are arranged at opposite sides of the bank note transport path. For the functioning of many sensors it is necessary that the opposing sensor components are exactly aligned to each other. So as to achieve that the alignment of the sensor components arranged opposite each other is set with high accuracy and reproducible, the relative position of the sensor components opposing each other is defined by means of docking elements.

Sensor and apparatus for checking paper goods, and method for sensor prealignment

In an apparatus for checking sheet material a plurality of sensors are arranged along a sensor path along which the sheet material, such as e.g. bank notes, is transported. The sensors each have two components which are arranged at opposite sides of the bank note transport path. For the functioning of many sensors it is necessary that the opposing sensor components are exactly aligned to each other. So as to achieve that the alignment of the sensor components arranged opposite each other is set with high accuracy and reproducible, the relative position of the sensor components opposing each other is defined by means of docking elements.

Sensor components having sides facing the sheet material have one or a plurality of front elements which are detachable and replaceable with low effort. So in the case of wear of the sensor fronts, entire sensor components no longer have to be replaced but only individual front elements of the sensor component are replaced. The front elements do not contact the inner area of the housing and the sensitive measuring elements arranged therein. When the front elements are detached from the housing for maintenance, the measuring elements remain dustproof encapsulated in the housing of the sensor component. The front elements preferably have a comb structure which improves the transport of the bank notes at the transition between the sensor components.

A transport apparatus for transporting flat, rectangular sheet material, in particular sheet-shaped value documents such as bank notes, comprises a distributing element reciprocating between at least two positions, or at least two distributing elements reciprocating between two positions, the distributing element or elements moving delivered sheets of the sheet material alternatively or alternatingly into at least two removal positions, and at least one removal device for carrying off the sheets out of the removal positions in removal directions associated with the removal positions.

Device for changing the direction of movement of sheet-type products

An apparatus for diverting sheet material, in particular bank notes (BN), includes a diverting plate () with a first diverting edge () disposed on a slant and preferably a second diverting edge () disposed on a slant. The sheet material is guided and transported from the rear side () of the diverting plate () around the first diverting edge () to the front side () and further around the second diverting edge () back to the rear side (). If the diverting edges () are aligned relative to the transport direction () of the sheet material e.g. in each case at a slant angle of 45&#xb0;, this apparatus permits the sheet-material transport direction to be diverted by 180&#xb0;, whereby the transport path is shifted parallel. Thus, a continuous bank-note stream can be diverted uninterruptedly while retaining the sheet-material orientation relative to the transport direction. By means of a gate () the sheet material can be guided to a downstream diverting edge () instead of to the second diverting edge ().

Apparatus for diverting sheet material

An apparatus for deflecting sheet material from a first transport direction to a second transport direction while maintaining the orientation of the sheet material comprises a deflecting area () with a sheet-material supply zone () and a sheet-material removal zone (), as well as at least one slider () with slider elements (), which engages on the trailing edge of the sheet material to be deflected. By moving the slider from the sheet-material supply zone to the sheet-material removal zone around a rotation axis () the sheet material is deflected by the desired deflection angle. The sheet-material transport path preferably has two steps and the rotation axis () of the sliders () is preferably arranged in such a fashion that the slider elements () substantially only engage with the sheet-material transport path in the deflecting area () and emerge from the sheet-material transport path both upstream of the sheet-material supply zone () and downstream of the sheet-material removal zone ().

Apparatus for deflecting sheet material

A spiral slot stacker () has a stacker wheel () for accommodating sheet material (), a stripper () for stripping off the accommodated sheet material () and a stack deposit () for stacking the stripped-off sheet material (). The stacker () is movable and in a first position strips off the sheet material () from the stacker wheel () in such a manner that it is intermediately stacked between the stacker wheel circumference and a guideway (). When the stripper () is moved to a second position, it stacks the intermediately stacked sheet material () on the stack deposit (), and subsequent sheet material () is directly stacked on the stack deposit without intermediate stacking.

Device and method for stacking sheets

To provide an apparatus for sorting sheetlike data carriers which firstly has a compact and ergonomically optimal design and secondly permits the use of compact and cost-effective test devices, it is proposed that the input pocket ( ) and the output pocket ( ) are designed and oriented with respect to the front side ( ) of the apparatus such that the long sides of the data carriers ( ) face the operator. The singling device ( ) and the transport system ( ) transport the data carriers through a test device in the direction of their long sides. After running through the test device ( ) the data carriers are supplied to one of the output pockets ( ) by a longitudinal/cross conveying device ( ) along their transverse sides.
