Sharing video footage recorded by audio/video (A/V) recording and communication devices, such as video doorbells and security cameras. When an A/V recording and communication device records video footage of suspicious activity, or even criminal activity, a user viewing the footage may alert his or her neighbors by sharing the video. In various embodiments, the user may share the video with anyone of the user's choosing, including neighbors, friends, and family.

Sharing video footage from audio/video recording and communication devices

Some aspects of the present embodiments enable users of audio/video (A/V) recording and communication devices to report video footage to one or more reward providers. The reward provider may then review the reported video footage, determine whether a crime may have been committed, determine an amount of a reward to be offered, and post a reward offer through one or more outlets. The present embodiments may help in reducing crimes by publicizing criminal events and incentivizing members of the public to come forward with information that can be used to help identify and apprehend criminal perpetrators and/or to solve crimes.

Leveraging audio/video recording and communication devices to enhance public safety

Location-weighted remuneration for audio/video recording and communication devices in accordance with various embodiments of the present disclosure are provided. In one embodiment, a method for transferring a location-weighted remuneration is provided, the method comprising: assigning an identifier to an owner of a first A/V recording and communication device, receiving a purchase order for a second A/V recording and communication device, wherein the purchase order includes the identifier assigned to the owner of the first A/V recording and communication device, determining a distance between locations of the first and second A/V recording and communication devices, determining an amount of remuneration, wherein the amount of remuneration is inversely proportional to the determined distance between the locations of the first and second A/V recording and communication devices, and transferring the determined amount of remuneration to the owner of the first A/V recording and communication device.
