The present invention relates to a polyester polymer composition containing inorganic black particles in the range of about 5 to about 150 parts per million based on the polymer. The size of the inorganic black particles is greater than about 0.5 microns. Such polyester polymers having inorganic black particles incorporated therein absorb infrared radiation better than polymers containing no inorganic black particles and thus in the production of plastic bottles less energy is required to blow-mold the bottles.

The invention is directed to polyester resins containing a silica selected from the group consisting of fumed silica, colloidal silica and silica beads, which resin has utility on the production of containers, particularly beverage containers, having reduced stickiness relative to containers made from the same resin but without the silica.

The invention is directed to improved poly(terephthalic acid diester)-poly(isophthalic acid diester) resins, and in particular to improved polyethylene terephthalate-polyethylene isophthalate resin formulations, the improved formulations containing nucleating and chain-branching agents. The improved formulations of the invention have particular utility in the manufacture of plastic bottles.

The present invention relates to a polyester polymer composition containing graphite in the range of about 3-60 parts per million based on the polyester. The size of the graphite particles is greater than about 0.5 .mu.m. As an upper limit, however, any particle size which is not visible to the naked eye is acceptable. Such polyester polymers having graphite incorporated therein absorb infrared radiation better than polymers containing no graphite and thus in the production of plastic bottles less energy is required to heat the preform so that it can be blow molded into a bottle.
