A tubing assembly includes a signal generating apparatus for a catheter placement system. The tubing assembly includes a catheter and a signal generating apparatus. The catheter includes an elongate shaft having a wall surrounding a lumen. The signal generating apparatus includes at least one electromagnetic coil and at least one electrically conductive polymer that is configured to electrically connect the at least one electromagnetic coil to a monitor unit.

A sterilization wrap system with features for protecting a sterilization wrap and/or a sterilization tray of the sterilization wrap system is provided. Such features include strap or belt protectors, edge protectors, corner protectors, and/or expandable protectors, which each may provide protection of one or more areas of the sterilization wrap and/or tray when positioned against an outer surface of the wrap and/or between an inner surface of the wrap and a container for holding implements to be sterilized. A size-selectable protection system also is provided. The size-selectable protection system provides a material having a plurality of perforations such that a length of the material may be selected and detached from the rest of the material. The selected length of material may be used with a sterilization wrap system to protect a sterilization wrap and/or sterilization tray from cuts, tears, or the like.

A computerized model combines subject data, fabric data, and environmental conditions to simulate the thermal comfort of the subject wearing a plurality of fabric layers over time. A user interface enables a user to modify or define the input data to compare the predicted thermal comfort of the subject wearing different garments under the same working conditions.

A paper product that is applied with a water-soluble lotion composition is provided. In one embodiment of the present invention, the lotion composition includes water in an amount up to about 90% by weight of said lotion composition, a water-soluble skin-conditioning component in an amount up to about 75% by weight of said lotion composition, a viscosity modifier component in an amount up to about 10% by weight of said lotion composition, and an optional liquid-coupling component in an amount up to about 60% by weight of said lotion composition. Typically, the add-on level of the lotion composition is between about 1% to about 25% by weight of the paper product. As a result, the paper product can be used to dry the hands of a user, while also imparting certain benefits to the skin as well.

The invention also relates to a method for measuring the effort associated with donning a glove by providing a testing apparatus having a glove mount and a device for measuring effort associated with donning of a glove, mounting a glove for testing on the glove mount so the glove is open and donnable, initializing the testing apparatus, and acquiring data from the device relating to the effort associated with donning of the glove.

A device is provided for simulating a human skin microclimate and for measuring conditions such as temperature and humidity in the simulated microclimate. The microclimate is formed, for example, with fluids, gases and/or heat in a chamber of the device or between a surface of the device and a material disposed about the surface. In one aspect, a sensor is placed in the chamber to sense the microclimate. Methods of using the device and measuring microclimate conditions are also provided.

Virtual arm for measurement of humidity, temperature, and water vapor transmission rate in materials

An apparatus for evaluating a material is provided. In one aspect, the apparatus is an adjustable artificial arm for transmitting fluid into the material. An artificial skin, for example, is removably attached to the artificial arm, and the material is placed over the artificial skin. The fluid is insulted into the material proximate the artificial skin. The artificial skin is evaluated for wetness or dryness to prescreen the material. In another aspect, an artificial torso is provided through which fluid is transmitted and insulted into the material for evaluation.

Methods of using an evaluation apparatus for pre-screening a material for use in an absorbent article are provided. The evaluation apparatus includes a simulated body part having a simulated skin substrate. The material is placed proximate the simulated skin substrate, and a predetermined amount of simulated physiological fluid is insulted into the material at a pre-measured location. After a predetermined time, the simulated skin substrate is removed from the body part and fluid loss measurements are taken.

Method of using a simulated skin substrate and method for determining material dryness performance

An evaluation apparatus is provided for pre-screening a material for use in an absorbent article. The evaluation apparatus includes a simulated body part having a simulated skin substrate. The material is placed on or near the simulated skin substrate, and a predetermined amount of simulated physiological fluid is insulted into the material at a pre-measured location. After a predetermined time, the simulated skin substrate is removed from the body part and fluid loss measurements are taken.

A paper product that is applied with a lotion composition is provided. In one embodiment of the present invention, the lotion composition includes water in an amount up to about 90% by weight of the lotion, an emollient component in an amount up to about 20% by weight of the lotion, a fatty alcohol component in an amount up to about 50% by weight of the lotion, an emulsifier component in an amount up to about 40% by weight of the lotion, and a skin conditioning component in an amount up to about 60% by weight of the lotion. Typically, the add-on level of the lotion composition is between about 1% to about 15% by weight of the paper product. As a result, the paper product can be used to dry the hands of a user, while also imparting certain benefits to the skin as well.

An absorbent article includes a vapor permeable backsheet, a liquid permeable topsheet positioned in facing relation with the backsheet; and an absorbent body located between the backsheet and the topsheet. The absorbent body may include multiple zones of high air permeability or may include materials which provide improved air exchange after being wetted. The absorbent article may also include a ventilation layer between the absorbent body and the backsheet and a surge management layer between the absorbent body and the topsheet. The article exhibits improved air exchange within the article during use. As a result, the article exhibits substantially reduced levels of hydration of the wearer's skin when in use which renders the skin less susceptible to the viability of microorganisms.

An absorbent article includes a vapor permeable backsheet, a liquid permeable topsheet positioned in facing relation with the backsheet; and an absorbent body located between the backsheet and the topsheet.
