A system and method for using business services within a customer relationship management (CRM) application. Business services are objects that encapsulate and simplify the use of some set of functionality. The CRM application includes an object manager that manages business objects as well as business services. Business objects are associated with data stored in the application database. Business services operate or act upon business objects to achieve a particular goal. Business services include methods that can be invoked and properties that maintain information about the state of a process during execution.

System and method for using business services

A method and apparatus for an integrated process modeler is described. The modeler comprises a non-technical interface to permit design of a business process by a non-technical use and a technical interface to implement substeps of the process to automate technical aspects of the process by a technical user, using the same process modeler. The resulting process designed to be used by non-technical employees, to automatically lead the non-technical employees through the business process.

Method and apparatus to present an integrated process modeler

In an embodiment, a system for preserving user interface customizations while upgrading an enterprise application is provided. The system preserves customizations by identifying customizations made to user interface ('UI') objects of an enterprise application, and enabling these UI customizations to function with a newer version of the enterprise application. The system transforms UI customizations so that the transformed UI customizations function with a new UI model. By enabling a portion of an enterprise application to be upgraded while preserving UI customizations, the system dramatically reduces the time and cost incurred by companies when they upgrade enterprise software.

A method of migrating Cartesian coordinate-based views is disclosed. The method includes providing applet-based templates and associating the templates to Cartesian coordinate-based views. Controls of the applet can be modified according to the requirements of the Cartesian coordinate-based view. The views are used as user interfaces.
