A system including a quench system that may cool a syngas generated in a gasification chamber. The quench system includes a quench chamber, a dip tube that may direct the syngas from the gasification chamber into a quench liquid to cool the syngas to generate a cooled syngas, and a draft tube disposed circumferentially about the dip tube and that may receive the cooled syngas. A passage is disposed between a first wall of the dip tube and a second wall of the draft tube, and the draft tube includes a tapered configuration in a flow direction along the passage.

Gasification quench system

A quench system includes a housing having a longitudinal axis, a gas path for a gas within the housing, a steam input and output, and a dip tube within the housing. The dip tube includes tubing arranged to form a wall. A steam path, separate from the gas path, is disposed within the tubing in a thickness of the wall. The dip tube is configured to allow passage of the gas along the gas path. The steam input is fluidically connected to the steam output by the tubing. The quench system is configured to cool the gas along the gas path and heat steam along the steam path within the tubing of the dip tube.

The present application provides a gasifier for creating a flow of a syngas. The gasifier may include a reaction chamber and a quench chamber. The quench chamber may include a number of integrated scrubber trays therein such that the syngas first enters a quench pool via a dip tube and then passes through the scrubber trays before leaving the quench chamber.

A system includes a syngas cooler and a compatible seal gas system. The syngas cooler may be configured to cool a syngas. The compatible seal gas system may be configured to supply a compatible seal gas to a seal of the syngas cooler. The seal may be configured to block the syngas from a passage between an outer wall of the syngas cooler and a tube cage of the syngas cooler.

System and method for sealing a syngas cooler

A system includes a gasifier that may gasify a feedstock to produce a syngas and a syngas cooler that includes a cooling chamber having a tapered configuration. The cooling chamber includes a first section that may separate particulates from the syngas and includes a first opening and a second opening. The first opening has a smaller width than the second opening. The system also includes a second section in fluid communication with the first section that includes a plurality of tubes surrounding the first section. A first portion of the plurality of tubes is arranged parallel to a longitudinal axis of the cooling chamber and a second portion of the plurality of tubes is angled such that the second portion of the plurality of tubes forms the tapered configuration. The system further includes a passage to flow a seal gas between a shell of the radiant syngas cooler and the second section. The shell encloses the cooling chamber.

A system includes a gasifier. The gasifier includes a reaction chamber configured to convert a feedstock into a synthetic gas, a quench chamber configured to cool the synthetic gas, and a transition section between the reaction chamber and the quench chamber. The gasifier also includes a quench ring configured to provide a first flow of a coolant to the quench chamber and a shielding gas system configured to provide a second flow of a shielding gas to protect at least one of the quench ring or the transition section.

System and method for protecting gasifier quench ring

A system includes a gasifier. The gasifier includes a chamber, a first nozzle, and a second nozzle. The first nozzle is configured to output a first fuel and a first oxidant to create a mixture that combusts in a combustion-reduction zone of the chamber. The second nozzle is configured to output a reduction promoter into the combustion-reduction zone to reduce combustion products in the combustion-reduction zone of the chamber.

Gasification system and method

A heat recovery system for use with a gasification system is provided. One system includes a gasification system and an organic Rankine cycle system coupled to the gasification system. The organic Rankine cycle system is configured to receive heated fluid from the gasification system and to deliver cooled fluid to the gasification system. The organic Rankine cycle system is configured to produce power by converting heat energy in the heated fluid.

A method for removing hot gas deposits from a system via pressure pulses is provided. The method includes regulating a flow of a mixture of detonation fluid and oxidizer into an expansion chamber; and generating a detonation within the expansion chamber by igniting the mixture of detonation fluid and oxidizer in the expansion chamber producing a high-pressure wave, the high-pressure wave propagating along a fluid path of the system in a supersonic rate removing hot gas deposits in the fluid path while the system is in fired operation, the expansion chamber directing the high-pressure wave towards the fluid path of the system.

A burner tube to provide combustible materials to a combustor is provided and includes an annular shroud and a center body, having a cavity defined therein, disposed within the annular shroud to form an annular passage, the annular passage being communicable with a combustion zone of the combustor at an aft portion thereof and including a fore portion in which fuel is injected into the annular passage. The center body includes a surface having a passage defined therein through which air is to be supplied to the annular passage from the cavity at a position, which is downstream from the fuel injection and upstream from the combustion zone. Also provided is a contouring of the centerbody.
